Alexandria, VA junior welterweight Kay Koroma remained undefeated with a second-round TKO over Bai Hang in Chengdu, China yesterday. The bout was stopped at 2:32 of the second.
The win raises Koroma's record to 4-0, three KO's.
After starting his career in Virginia, Koroma is becoming a world traveler. His next bout is scheduled to be a 12-round contest against John Chibuta (8-2, one KO) in Chibuta's home country of Zambia on October 4. The bout is for the Global Boxing Union middleweight title, which means Koroma will come up in weight for the contest.
Wow! Congrats Kay! Would love to see him fight here again.
ReplyDeleteK is a good fighter> Gary is Wanda still his manager
ReplyDeleteTo tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I would venture to say no, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteKay Karoma had to discontinue his career fighting in the US for health reasons. Clearly he is not subject to the same scrutiny outside of the US. Unless he has had some miraculous recovery, he should not be fighting. Therefore he should not be heralded on this blog.
ReplyDeleteWOW! You know the doctors say he's fine. Let the man fight! He should be applauded on this blog. The man is living his dream and, once again, the doctors say he's fine! Way to go Kay!
ReplyDeleteIf the doctors say he is fine, then he should go get licensed in Maryland or D.C. If the doctors say he is fine, why has he not fought locally? Really, it is a simple matter, if his health is good, then he should take the steps to clear himself to fight in this country. If his health is not, then he is putting others at risk and that is inexcusable, if not illegal.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not a simple matter. I know for a fact he was denied a boxing license in Virginia. What's the man going to do? Sue the boxing commission? Where is that money going to come from. The truth of the matter is that Kay Koroma is a talented fighter and a fine young man. He's getting screwed by the system, plain and simple! Fight the power Kay! Fight the power! Ray Mercer still fights and he has the same thing Kay has. That's because he has/had people to fight for him. It's just Kay and he's a 4 round fighter making $400 a fight. I bet he's just fighting for his airfare and not making a dime on the fight. Now that's what you call a fighter! Ostrascize the man if you want to but I'm a fan of his. And, isn't it ironic, Virginia is a state that doesn't even require blood testing? They just heard something about Kay and denied him a license. Sounds like a conspiracy to me! Any attorneys out there reading this blog? Sounds like you have one hell of a case.
ReplyDeleteKay can't transmit or pass on the rare blood condition he has. He, along w/ Ray Mercer, were born with it. I'm no doctor but it's bullshit that he isn't allowed to fight in VA. They don't even test.
ReplyDeleteWell, that "rare" blood condition would keep him from fighting in any state in the US that requires blood testing. So it ain't that rare. And the fact is that you are not allowed to fight with it by those states because their medical staffs and then their legislatures have voted that way. So if Kay wants to be completely irresponsible and put his opponents at risk then that is on him in locations where they do not test. And that is being seriously irresponsible.
ReplyDeleteMedical experts say the man is fine to fight. Medical experts say the man is no risk to his opponents. What do you say about that? You know what it is? It's the same reason there is a damn boxing commission anyway? Liability! Everybody is afraid of getting sued! This is a damn joke! You mean to tell me that the man can provide medical documentation that he is at absolutely zero risk to himself or his opponents by fighting. Virginia is keeping Kay Koroma from making a living! Is their a lawyer in the house? Go get 'em Kay!
ReplyDeleteI notice whatever it is that Kay has nobody wants to say what it is. So it can not be so harmless.
ReplyDeleteIt's something with the blood, a form of hepatitis. And the doctors say he's good to go. The Virginia Boxing commission, which does not perform blood tests, denied him a boxing license at a public hearing because they heard he had some blood issues. Kay had evidence from a doctor that said he was fine to fight and that he nor his opponent was at any type of risk. Kay just doesn't have the resources to fight the system, that's all. He's getting screwed!
ReplyDeleteIf Kay can be cleared to fight, please let me know. I would love to put him on. I believe that I put him in his first pro fight.
ReplyDeleteChris zip it. You are a crock and cant be trusted.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, anonymous as always. I put Kay in in Virginia and wanted to use him again until the health issue came up. If he can be cleared, I would be more than happy to put him on.
ReplyDeleteChris one question, why doesnt Jimmy Lange every fight on ballroom boxing anymore?
ReplyDeleteJimmy will not fight at the Ballroom. Because he will get ko'd.
ReplyDeleteChris Middendorf doesnt play around when it comes to making competitive fights.
Johny lange hates chris thats why
ReplyDeleteThat bold headed Johnny hates everybody. He is nogood old fart.
ReplyDeleteThose two have a history. So no point poking that fire. No need to agitate. If you can't sign your name just let it be.
ReplyDeletethanks for all the info - transmitted - on this issue.
ReplyDeletecongrats Kay!
I posed the question as to where was Kay some time ago. I attended all of his fights in the Northern VA area and was quite impressed with what I saw. After researching him and his license with the state, I was only able to find out that there was a special hearing and no other details had been available. I do not know exactly what he has, or why his license is being denied, but would be more than willing to put him in touch with the right legal professionals to help him sort out this mess. If his condition is "harmless" to others so to speak, then he should be allowed to be licensed, and should not be denied that right for lack of monetary reasons. Please follow up via this blog with as much information as possible, with the amount of negativity and certain particular comments that I have read, I'm reluctant to provide any direct contact information at this moment.
ReplyDeleteBring 'em down Kay! Kill the man! Fight the power! You know, the funny thing is, I bet Kay hasn't even read any of this.
ReplyDeleteDigital, how did you find out he was fighting overseas? Did someone contact you or did you just see it on BoxRec?
I was contacted and then I verified it on Boxrec.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Kay bring these suckers down! If you have medical experts on your side you've got a great case. Don't give up!
ReplyDeletefor what my two cents are worth.. there sure are a whole lot of people who speak on things they do not know. Anyways.. Dave b.. how would one go about communicating with you directly, off the blog? I share your same feelings and would like to talk to you about available resources.
ReplyDeletepost #26, leave an e-mail address on the blog, I will read it and contact you directly. If you share the same feelings about posing a public e-mail, I can set one up temporarily, then have it deleted once you contact me.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to talking soon.
Dave B, please establish email address for direct communication. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
ReplyDeleteFirst and far most I would like to say, Praise God for protecting us through this long and exhausting journey and congrats to Mr. Koroma. I love you, baby,
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is keep knocking them out like you have been. However, our team would greatly appreciate it if everyone would lighten up, stop speculating and keep it moving. I am pretty sure none of you are in the medical field because if you were you would be trying to help individuals and not trying to hurt your fellow fighter. For those who say he shouldn't be fighting tell my why, oh I forgot its only speculation. Can anyone really tell us, the Koroma team what is going on with Mr. Koroma?
Mr. Koroma is one of the most dedicated and humble young men I have ever worked with. Kay and I have been together for a long time and we will be together until the end. We have developed a plan and are prepared to execute it. Until you have lived in this man's shoes experienced the negativity, the intense day in day out training and dedication he has had to endure please, keep you opinions to yourself. We will continue to do business with honorable and respectful promoters. Love ones please keep us uplifted in prayer for the long haul. All of you continue to check boxrec. and count the WINS.
God Bless, Fightlady
