After a long series of negotiations, undefeated Baltimore super middleweight Mike "The Persecutor" Paschall will make his national TV debut on Saturday, August 2 when he takes on undefeated Andre "The Matrix" Dirrell in a scheduled 10-round contest at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA. Showtime will televise.
Showtime Analyst Steve Farhood announced this event today on the Ballroom Boxing Report on Baltimore's ESPN 1300. Dirrell's original opponent, Esteban Camou, had to drop out of the bout. This was an on-again, off-again bout that finally was signed just a few days ago. Paschall (17-0-1, four KO's) is coming off the biggest win of his career, an eight-round unanimous decision over Larry Marks on May 29 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD.
Ironically, Michael's is the place where Flint, MI native Dirrell (15-0, 10 KO's) began his pro career after a sterling amateur campaign that culminated in winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. Dirrell stopped Carlos Jones in the fourth round of his pro debut on January 27, 2005. Dirrell also scored a second round knockout over Jacob Rodriguez two months later at Michael's.
Cool for Paschall! Wasn't this the fight that you mentioned on the Youcastr that WASN'T going to happen? Glad it is.
ReplyDeleteThis is the fight. I was originally told it wasn't going to take place, but apparently Camou had to bypass the bout, so Paschall's name came up again.
ReplyDeleteMike has no chance.
