Beltway Boxers Have Tough Time at National Golden Gloves!

As the competition gets stronger at the National Golden Gloves in Grand Rapids, MI, the Beltway representatives are having a tougher time of it. Only three Beltway Boxers remain in the competition.

Wednesday's action saw Kevin Rivers of DC advance in the 119-pound division with a decision over Shavez Peters of New York. Also, Jarrett Hurd of DC won his bout in the 165-pound class with a decision over Celso Campoverde of California. Ferndale, MD's Nick Kisner also advanced with a decision over Robert Jekabsons of Chicago.

Four Beltway Boxers lost bouts last night. Francis Taylor lost his 112-pound bout to Oscar Cantu of Texas by decision. Cordaro Simpkins of Virginia dropped a decision to Omar Pena of New England in the 132-pound division. Marquis Moore of Fort Washington fell to Daniel O'Connor of New England in the 141-pound class. Also, Jeremiah Wiggins of DC lost a decision to Noel Esqueda of the Kansas/Oklahoma team in the 152-pound division.
