Mark Saturday, July 12 on your calendar. That will be the night that DC heavyweight Tony "The Tiger" Thompson will challenge Wladimir Klitschko for the WBO Heavyweight title!
The site will be the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany. That's the same location where Thompson stopped Luan Krasniqi in the fifth round on July 14, 2007 to become the WBO's number one contender.
As of right now, Klitschko's IBF title is not on the line. The IBF is still deciding whether to clear Klitschko for this bout because their number-one contender is Alexander Povetkin, who is scheduled to face Klitschko at the end of the year or in early 2009. Klitschko also has the lightly-regarded IBO title and that will be on the line July 12.
No word yet on whether this bout will be shown on American TV.
