Nicklow, Dietrich in Action April 18 in Pikesville!

Undefeated Baltimore-area boxers Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow and "The American Dream" Mike Dietrich will be in featured bouts on the next Baltimore Pro Boxing card on Friday, April 18 at the Pikesville National Guard Armory in Pikesville, MD.

Nicklow (16-0-1, six KO's) will be in an eight-round junior middleweight matchup against veteran Chad "Taz" Greenleaf of Parkersburg, WV (10-9-1, four KO's). Nicklow is coming off an impressive first-round TKO over Richard "Tiger" Lee Hall on the last Baltimore Pro Boxing card in Pikesville on February 29. Greenleaf will be trying to break a two-bout losing streak that includes an eight-round split-decision loss to Thomas Davis on January 24 in Charlotte, NC. This will be the third Beltway Boxer Greenleaf has faced. Previously he lost a split decision to Marlon Haynes in August of 1998 and a unanimous decision to Jimmy Lange in May of 2003.

The co-feature brings back Dietrich (10-0, five KO's) in a six-round heavyweight bout against Cornelius Ellis (10-15-1, six KO's) of Wilson, NC. Dietrich has not fought since July 20, 2007 when he stopped Jerry Simpson in the third round at DuBurns Arena in Baltimore. Ellis's last bout was in Pikesville when he lost a six-round split decision to Horace "The Reason" Grant on January 18 in Pikesville. Grant (11-1, seven KO's), a heavyweight from Riverdale, MD, is also slated to be on the April 18 card in Pikesville.

Also on the card will be Columbia, MD middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter who will face Myrtle Beach, SC's Pete Guthy in a four-round contest. Jeter (4-2, four KO's, one NC) has been in the ring in an exhibition bout recently but has not fought an official bout since December of 2005. The last bout for Guthy (1-2-1) was on January 25 when he was stopped by Brian Macy in Mashantucket, CT. Prior to that, Guthy battled to a four-round majority draw against Elias Bouloubassis on December 7 in Pikesville.

Baltimore light heavyweight Willie "For Real" Williams will battle Woodbridge, VA's Andre "Da Heat" Hemphill in a six-round rematch bout. Williams (9-2, two KO's) won the first bout over Hemphill (6-6-2, three KO's) on September 14, 2006 at Martin's West in Woodlawn. Williams, who is riding a three-bout winning streak, will be participating in his third straight rematch bout; he holds victories over Ray Ruiz and Willis Lockett in his last two bouts. Hemphill gets back in the ring for the first time since battling Simon Carr to a four-round draw on August 24 in Philadelphia.

Other Beltway Boxers slated to be on the card include Beltway rookies Mark "TNT" Tucker and Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell.

  1. I see how you got Mitchell's name in there at the end. I told you guys the big boys don't play when it comes to promotional contracts and they will absolutely have something in there that is an "escape clause" in case a boxer loses, draws, or doesn't perform to expectations. That's the way they roll! Seth, welcome back to the area. There are still big things in store for you!

  2. Actually, Seth is scheduled to be a part of the Shane Mosley-Zab Judah GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS card in Las Vegas on May 31. I received that word earlier today.

  4. Whats the story of Jeter beating up some brother of a fighter at the fitness center/gym where he trains? I had heard it was reported to the police. Is he going to be allowed to fight?

  6. Glad to hear Tony is on the winning side of a fight! Hope its not true, he is a nice kid whose time out of the ring has not benefited him. He was at one time a fighter with potential, time is running out on him.

  7. NICE KID!!!! Do nice kids beat people up who are not fighters. My understanding of the way the law looks at professional fighters when they use their fists outside of the ring is that their hands are real weapons. This does not sound like a nice kid to me. This sounds like...skip it. This is a waste of time. What a lowlife.

  8. Give him his props for what? 7 year pro, 6 fights, got knocked cold by that bum Shedrick, never beaten anyone. Now he is fighting outside ring. . . makes sense, never was a pro, might as well fight for nothing. Nice kid? He is 32 and dimes to dollars says he doesn't fight n this card. . . he will find an excuse.

  9. He probly wont fight. He is lucky he fought a 40year old Matt Hill (with 16oz gloves & a headgear). Cause that hook Matt Hill rocked him with in the 1st round almost dropped him. After that he took care of business, but that was also against again Matt Hill.
I bet he either dont fight or if he does I think we will see the same Tony as we did when 40+ year old Shedrick KO'd him.

  11. Sounds like some haters out there have an axe to grind. We know who you are, your not fooling anybody.
Jeter's good people. Just don't come running at him shouting, with your hands up. Im not sure what I would do in that situation. Christ was the only perfect man on this earth.

  12. Yeah, Don't go hiding on the hem of Jesus...Christ is not accountable. Boxer's are.

  14. Since I wasn't at the fight at the gym I can not comment. I can say this though I have seen Jeter fight, from the time he was an amauteur onward, and have had interactions with him outside the ring. This I do know about him, he is talented nobody can take that away from him, he is straight up and maybe to honest for some, and because of this combination people don't want to see him shine.

I wasn't there and won't comment on the fight, and unless you were there you should do the same. Calling a man a lowlife is a pretty bold statement so I would hope you have had interactions with the man and your opinions aren't preconcieved based on what you have heard throught the rumor mill. From all my encounters Jeter seems like a good dude, so I hope he can pick up where his promising career left off.

Yeah I know for haters its hard to look in the mirror and face reality
