'Ding-A-Ling Man' Wilson Gets WBA World Title Shot May 3!

Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson finally gets his title shot. Wilson will challenge Firat Arslan for the WBA Cruiserweight championship on Saturday, May 3 at Hanns-Martin Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Germany.

Wilson (23-6-3, 20 KO's) won by sixth-round TKO over Robert Marsh on March 15 in Richmond, VA (So if you see it written that Wilson got this title shot despite his loss to BJ Flores, that is erroneous).

Arslan (28-3-1, 18 KO's) will be making the first defense of the title that he won from former world champion Virgil Hill in November of 2007. Arslan is a native of Stuttgart, Germany.

This bout will not be shown on TV in the US.

  2. ACW (Does that stand for Arm Chair Watcher?)

What was the last live fight you went to along the Beltway?

  3. Actually ACW has become a fixture at most of the events in Northern Virginia!

  4. Which probably means he's been to a lot more cards than you have!

  5. I seriously doubt that. I haven't seen him at any cards in awhile anywhere.
    Miss the cutie-pie.

  8. Thanks for the support Digital.

To "anonymous": ACW: my initials. And unfortunately, there hasn't been a live card around this area that I've been able to go to (hopefully there'll be a NoVa or DC show soon).

Man, it'd be great for both Wilson and Tiger to win titles. 4 Beltway titleholders again? Those two, plus the Petersons oughtta get title shots eventually.

  9. Ding-a-ling finally get his chance. I hope he is staying in the gym and getting that good conditioning. We all know he is one of the hardest hitting fighters around and has an excellent jab if he decides to use it. I hope we see at least 30 jabs a round to set up that vicious power. Good luck. We are all behind you.

  10. I've decided to become a critic
and leave the hard work to the
    low lifes .
    Let's start with ACW.
A young guy who really likes boxing and never really has any thing bad to say about anybody .
ACW you must remember to throw a few not so obvious insults in the mix if you want to be part of the critics club.Your opinion is not really enough and you havr to take sides with some promoter and his fighters if you want to be popular
and get into the fights for nothing.
Thats enough to get the ball rolling for now so until next time.
    yours truly

  13. Because it is a technicality. The IBF has yet to put in the paperwork. They are not against the bout, but that is the minor snag.

C'mon ACW... who do you think is the most over-rated fighter in the Beltway area and who would you most like to see get their ass whipped (besides me)?

  15. ACW is a really nice guy. He has never tried to get in to any of the shows I've been associated with for free. He has always paid. He is a young boxing fan and the sport needs all of the young boxing fans it can get. And to the people picking on him, you remind me of some immature little 12 year olds. You guys need to grow up!

Most 12 year olds would have been able to see no one ever accused Mr. ACW of trying to get in any where free. That poster was actually going after the OP who was just teasing, not picking on ACW. So learn to read and glean the context before you jump in. This is an exclusive private club for only Savvy 12 year olds.
