Williams, Sol Advance at US Future Stars!

Laurel, MD 178-pounder Thomas Williams advanced to the next round of competition at the US Future Stars National Amateur Championships via walkover over Siji Shabazz of Las Cruces, NM.

Baltimore, MD 201+ pounder Tavon Sol won his first bout by a 23-13 decision over J'Von Wallace of Fort Worth, TX.

The Beltway area saw its first defeat of the tournament when Kevin Rivers of Oxon Hill, MD lost to Paul Romero of Phoenix, AZ in the first round of the 119-pound bracket.

Beltway amateurs Emmanuel Taylor, Dominic Wade and Glenn Dezum are scheduled to compete in tonight's evening session.
