Results From Fight Night!

Here are the results from the Fight Night "Fight for Children" event at the Washington Hilton and Towers Hotel in Washington, DC:

Leo "The Lion" Martinez of Columbus, OH registered an eight-round unanimous decision over Smithsburg, MD's Dean "Pitbull" White. Judges Tammye Jenkins and Wendy Richardson scored the bout 79-73 while Judge Steve Rados had the bout, 78-74. The win was the fourth straight for Martinez, who is now 12-9, five KO's. The loss is the fourth in a row for White, who falls to 14-9-1, seven KO's.

Arlington, VA's Bayan Jargal won the "Fight For Children Title" bout with a workmanlike six-round unanimous decision over DC's Reggie "The Mechanic" Holly. Jargal dropped Holly in the first round with a solid right hand and went on to the relatively easy decision in his first professional six-round bout. Judge Richardson saw the bout, 58-54. Judge Rados scored it 59-54 while Judge Jenkins witnessed a 59-53 bout. Jargal remains undefeated at 4-0-1, two KO's. Holly is now 7-3, two KO's. Jargal was also named the fighter of the night and earned an extra 500 dollars.

In a non-beltway heavyweight bout, Florida heavyweight Wilmer Vasquez remained undefeated with a six-round majority decision over Winston-Salem, NC's Corey Winfield. Vasquez dropped Winfield twice in the contest. Despite the two knockdows, however, Judge Richardson mysteriously scored the bout a draw, 57-57. Judge Jenkins saw the bout 59-53 while Judge Rados said Vasquez pitched a shutout at 60-54. Vasquez is now 4-0, two KO's while Winfield is 2-3, two KO's.

Due to time constraints, the bout between Larry "The Gladiator" Brothers and Breon Smiley did not take place.

  1. Digital,

As previoulsy mentioned, would you or someone please tell the "Pit Bull" to retire. Dean White does not have it anymore!

That was a sad performance! Do you agree?

    Hello! Towell Boy lol!

  2. If you listened to the post-fight wrap-up, both my guests suggested that about Dean.

It was a tough outing for Dean.

  3. Sid, You obviously are SO delighted...Sit down and eat that whole cake you have there and are so gleefully gloating over. You are a real GEM!

  4. Linda,

I do not have to gloat! I have followed Mr. White for several years and he has had a great run. I do not belittle him. He is as tough as it gets and he should be praised for waht he has accomplished.

He won several good fights, beat some tough opponents and got a draw in Vegas against an up and coming prospect. Not to forget, he did win a regional title belt.

Although, I said several fights ago, he was getting hit too much in defeat. He has been taking to many head shots. Someone needed to tell him.

He is a champion and will always be a champion. It has been and it is still time to retire.

As for the Towell Boy! He is the one I was poking at!

There nothing worse than having a friend tell a boxer that he stills has it and then goes out and watches him get beat up again and again!

I still stick with my words that it was a sad performance.

Linda, just take your pictures! You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

  5. Sid,
You didn't have to gloat, but you chose to. Don't pull his past accomplishments out now after you just raped him of any possible dignity with your post. You don't sound anything like a friend. I think a true friend would have chosen a more prudent time to make a statement he has been harping about in public for a while and because of your lack of sensitivity I stand by what I said. I wouldn't want a friend like you. My friends talk to me face to face... bad or good, straight up. I have good friends. I don't really know the history, but you were quicker than a jackrabbit to jump on something that you felt strongly about. But a TRUE FRIEND would have been with Dean ringside and not someone who would vent on a day after a loss like that about his "friend" I don't think you were there for him last night. I don't think you saw how hard he fought. I don't think you saw his face that pretty much showed his thoughts after the fight.
Let Dean have his day bad or good... without you in the picture.
I am not just a photographer, and it's not your right or place or anything to tell me to just take pictures. You don't know me and thank goodness you are not my friend.

  6. Listen Linda Lou!

Learn to read please! I never said I was Dean Whites friend! I have never spoke to him and do not really care to. I made my point. He had a good career. Now it is time to hang it up.

I was speaking of his towell boy friend Doug who always runs his mouth about how Dean will fight and beat anyone! It is people like him that you should be talking about. Pushing someone who you know will get beat.

This site is not all about positive energy to everyone and every boxer! Wake up!

Again, I am not his friend and never said I was. I only followed his career. His TRUE friends did not tell him to quit as they should have several fights ago!

As for you, just go right on taking your little pictures of fighters getting their face bashed in! oh yea! Put them on-line and try to make you a few bucks!

Go ahead and send him copies of the action shots, you know the ones of him getting his face smashed in. You Remember, the ones you kept on taking even after everyone knew it was all but over.

This site is for players and haters all a like. If you do don't like it don't reply.

As for calling me a GEM! Maybe you should remove your camera from your face and take a look in the mirror.

Just as you have the right to take your little pictures. Right or wrong, I have the right to state my opinion!

  7. Sid is right, Linda should shut up and take pictures. People are started to hate you Linda, you should quit while you are behind.

  8. Sid,,
If you have a conflict with whoever is towel boy take it up with him. Leave Dean out of it. The only point you made was really what an ass you are, and you absolutely have that right to. maybe you should hit send a few just to drive your point home.

  11. Linda,

I very seldon reply or post a comment. Although, I must admit I read them daily and it seems that you are posting all the time and it is not always good information.

Case in Point the the apparent problems between two promoters Squared Circle and Mr. Farmer. Let them deal with their own problems. They both do good jobs and eventually it will all work itself out.

You tend to act like you are a representative or a mediator for some of these promotors.

This is a great boxing information site for the Metro DC boxing fans. I will continue to read on a daily basis regardless if it bad or good news.

As for leaving Dean out of it. lol!

You just don't get it. It is about Dean. He should retire.

  13. Linda,

I did not say I disliked your post! I said your posts are not always good ones. These posts are for everyone including you. I respect everyones opinion so I will not always reply or remark on everyone posts.

People do enjoy your posts and other post so don't quit posting. A person can never post enough on this site. Everyone is not an expert on this wild sport including myself.

  14. I heard that kid Jargnal took Reggie Holly apart in a very worklike beating, I think he is the real deal, I remember reading how Holly was going to be to much for him. Looks like Willie Taylor knows what he is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Willie taylor does know what he is doing, but remember he has a
fighter with a great amount of experience to work with. Jargal has had a couple hundred fights in his own country and a bunch of
    professional kickboxing fights in
this country.Taking nothing away from willie I'm just stating that his experience as a trainer and jargals experience as a fighter is a hell of a combination

    ReplyDelete
  16. i was at the fight nite and people have a funny way of classsing fighters im talking abount jargal and holly, holly put up a good effort even though i think he was in over his head from the beginning a guy with a whole heap of experience and another fighter with not much at all and let me state this i dont like neither fighter but truth be told they both took the figth knowing the odds and they are from the same area and its amazing that we cant embrace our dc. fighters so the area as one can grow and as for Ray and Duke that would be stupid unless for some real money other than that stupid

  17. Ease up on Linda. She's just defending the promoters and fighters from the area. She is relatively new to the sport, give her a break.
