  4. I thought the show was a lot of fun. 3 KO's, McCrourey gets KO'd Paschall looked good against a real game kid. The place had a huge crowd, probably the biggest I've seen there. Hands down the class of the Beltway for a long time!

  5. So, who wants to give me a blow by blow on Skippy's fight? Did he just get caught cold or ... ?

From what I recall, he used to be considered a pretty durable, rugged guy in the chin department. Of course, that's going back to his early career before the long layoff.

What's the story on that anyhow? Did he just hang 'em up for a few years, then decide that he had a few more fights left in his system or were there other circumstances involved?

  6. Speaking of retirements, can anyone out there fill me in on whatever happened to Les Johnson?

Back in the day, he was a real nice kid that seemed to be headed for a couple-few decent TV fights anyhow. His mom & the rest of his family were pretty cool to me as well.

I know he dropped a couple of close ones to Kevin Tillman & Demetrius Davis ( no shame in that ), then rebounded with a string of wins. Then, retirement.

What happened, the usual, marriage, kids etc.? I hope that's the case anyhow.

  7. Hey Jim!

First, thanks for the recollections on the other post. Very solid reading, indeed.

Carson just got caught. He got hit with some blistering shots and was knocked out. I think there were some family issues and that was why he left the scene earlier. In April of this year, McCourry hurt his arm and was out of action for awhile.

As far as Les Johnson, I saw him earlier this year. He is doing quite well and looks good. I know Johnson did hurt his shoulder near the end of his career, but I think he did decide he want to get out of the sport. He is good friends with the guy who was the owner of the ABA's Maryland Nighthawks. When I talked to him, he was talking about possibly promoting some boxing in Montgomery County.

  11. Mike Carrigan was over at my place was over at my place with his dad to see the Mosley/Cotto fight. We've talked about a fight next year. Hea wants to make it at super-middle and I want to make it at super-heavy. Ha! We'll see what happens. I'll have to get back in the gym and see how I feel. Right now I am concentrating my energies on Luther's comeback fight in January. I have three dates for him next year. I am also managing another veteran fighter on the trail back. More info to come in 08'.

  12. money Sawyer, you should concentrate on your boxing career. Get your ass back in the gym and lose that weight. You have ok boxing ability but you have very good punching power in both hands. I know I can do something for you, I am sure other promoters in the area would like to help you too. Especially you have all those people coming to the show for you. You are a goldmine! Take care.

  14. I don't know much, but I know that Mike Sawyer can box. I know that he has more talent in his pinky than most boxers have in their entire fist.
If Mike got serious about his career and didn't have the unfortunate string of distractions that he has been forced to deal with (did any one know that his sister died? I thought so.) he would be on top of the boxing world right now. If you know anything about Mike "the person" you know that he gives too much of his time to too many people, which makes it hard for him to commit to himself. It is time for MIKE to be selfish and spend time on MIKE! That means time for him to focus and TRAIN and take on the WORLD!

  15. I got three opponents lined up for Mike already...

    Brian Dead
    Justin A. Coma
    Tim Burr

    Let's go Mike!
