Info on Final Three Beltway Cards of 2007!

Here is some information on the final three Beltway-area pro cards of 2007:

Ballroom Boxing returns to Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD on Thursday, November 29. Scheduled to appear on the show will be Riverdale, MD heavyweight Horace "The Reason" Grant (9-1, six KO's), undefeated Capitol Heights, MD featherweight Thomas "KO" Snow (9-0, seven KO's) and undefeated Pasadena, MD light heavyweight "The Persecutor" Mike Paschall (13-0-1, two KO's).

UPDATE: Grant will face Darrell Madison of Islip, NY (7-1, three KO's) in a six-round bout. Grant is coming off a six-round split decision victory over Michael Rhodes on November 9 at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. Madison won a four-round unanimous decision over Ryan Thompson on November 17 in Atlantic City. Madison last fought in the area on May 18 at Rosecroft when he knocked out Kevin Thompson in the first round.

Paschall will battle Randy Pogue of Norristown, PA (8-7-2, two KO's) in a six-round bout. Paschall is coming off his East Coast championship victory over Richard Stewart on August 25 in Ocean City, MD. Pogue is winless in his last six bouts including a four-round draw against Rafael Jastrzbeski on June 27 in New York City.

Two bouts are in place for this card. Glen Burnie heavyweight Danny Kisner (1-0, one KO) is slated to take on the debuting Kevin Johnson from Baltimore. Also, undefeated light heavy Alexander "The Great" Johnson of Oxon Hill, MD will battle Zeferino Albino of Philadelphia (2-2, one KO) in a four-round contest. Johnson is coming off a crushing first-round knockout over Kevin Sutton on November 9 at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. Albino lost a six-round unanimous decision to Manuel Lopes on October 12 in Lincoln, RI.

Also slated to fight on this card are Baltimore super middleweight Carson McCourry (9-3, six KO's) and Baltimore welterweight Earl "Mighty Mouse" Cole (2-1, one KO). UPDATE: McCourry faces Bob Wilder of Akron, OH (1-2). McCourry will be trying to bounce back from an April 19 first-round TKO loss to John Owens at Michael's. Wilder will be trying to break a two-bout losing streak.

Also just added to this card will be the debut of 126-pound national and world amateur champion Emily Klinefelter. A native of Iowa City, IA, Klinefelter won a gold medal at the 2006 Pan American Games, the Golden Gloves in 2005 and is a two-time US champion. Klinefelter was also the valedictorian of her class at the University of Iowa and is currently studying for her masters in accounting here. Her younger sister, Katy, is also a promising amateur boxer.

The final Maryland card of 2007 will take place on Friday, December 7 at the Pikesville National Guard Armory. It is the third annual Baltimore Pro Boxing "Bombs Away on Pearl Harbor Day" card. Barring last-minute injuries, the entire card is set.

The main event will be a scheduled 10-round contest for the East Coast Welterweight championship. Undefeated Tim "The Pit Bull" Coleman of Baltimore will battle veteran "Magnificent" Martinus Clay of Wilson, NC.

Coleman (14-0, three KO's) is coming off a devastating first-round knockout victory over Scott Ball at the Jonathan Ogden Foundation benefit card in Cockeysville, MD on November 1. This contest will be the first scheduled 10-round bout of Coleman's career and his ninth bout of 2007.

Clay (12-18-2, four KO's) has lost his last five bouts and is winless in his last seven. However, all seven of those bouts came against boxers who were undefeated at the time Clay faced them, including the likes of Andre Berto, Jason LeHoullier and in his last outing, Harry Joe Yorgey, who won a 10-round unanimous decision over Clay in Clay's last outing on October 12 in Philadelphia, PA. Clay drew with Yorgey in their first meeting in November of 2006. Coleman will be the eighth straight undefeated fighter Clay has faced. Clay is still capable of pulling off an upset, as he did against Matt Vanda, defeating him by majority decision in May of 2006.

Another undefeated boxer Clay faced in that seven-bout stretch will also be on this card -- Severn, MD junior middleweight Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow (Nicklow won a six-round unanimous decision over Clay at Du Burns Arena on June 22). Nicklow (13-0-1, five KO's) will battle Anthony Little of Akron, OH in a rematch of an August 25th battle in Ocean City, MD. Nicklow won an eight-round unanimous decision over Little in the first contest. This bout is slated for six-rounds. Nicklow has not fought since August 25, but Little (7-9, one KO) has, losing a six-round unanimous decision to Ed Parades on September 28 in Miami, FL.

There will be another rematch on the card as Takoma Park, MD cruiserweight Willis "The Prophet" Lockett will battle Baltimore's Willie "For Real" Williams in a six-round encounter. Last time these two met, Lockett won a six-round majority decision on September 27 at Michael's Eighth Avenue. Since that contest, both men have fashioned winning streaks. Lockett (10-4-4, four KO's) is currently in a four-bout winning streak. Lockett stopped Calvin Riley on October 6 in McLean, VA at the Diego Corrales benefit show. Williams (8-2, two KO's) has won his last two bouts, beating Ray Ruiz in both of those outings in Baltimore and Cockeysville, MD.

In what will be an interesting light heavyweight matchup, "Hurricane" Henry Mayes of Baltimore will match up against New Castle, DE's Richard Stewart in a six-round contest. Mayes (6-4, four KO's, 2 NC) will try to bounce back from a six-round technical knockout loss to Tony "Cyclone" Cygan on October 12 at Du Burns Arena. Stewart (14-4-2, eight KO's) is coming off an eight-round draw against Jameel Wilson on October 19 in Philadelphia. Last time Stewart faced a Beltway Boxer it was on the August 25 Ocean City card where he lost an eight-round decision to Mike Paschall for the East Coast Light Heavyweight title.

Speaking of Cygan, the resident of Middle River, MD will also be on the December 7 card as he takes on undefeated John "No Mercy" Mackey of Montgomery, AL (by way of DC) in a six-round contest. Cygan (12-1, seven KO's) has not fought since the win over Mayes. Mackey (7-0, three KO's) is coming off a four-round unanimous decision victory over Charles Norwood on November 17 at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA. This will be Mackey's first scheduled six-round battle.

Also on this card, two of the Beltway's top rookie prospects go head-to-head in a four-round contest as "The Golden Greek" Elias Bouloubassis of Reisterstown, MD takes on DC's Lawrence "Bad to the Bone" Jones. Bouloubassis (3-0-3, three KO's) will try to remain undefeated and build on his last outing, a second-round knockout over Jessie Horton on October 6 in Cockeysville, MD. Jones (2-1, one KO) will be looking to come back after suffering his first pro loss -- a four-round unanimous decision to George Rivera -- on August 25 at Lee High School in Springfield, VA.

Horton (0-2) will also be looking to bounce back from his knockout loss to Bouloubassis as the DC native faces the returning Tony "Mo Better" Jeter (4-2-1, four KO's) of Columbia, MD. Jeter (pronounced JET-er) has not fought since December of 2005.

The final Beltway card of 2007 will be on Saturday, December 15 at the All-Star Legacy Gym in Ashburn, VA. This will be the "Dogs of War" card, the maiden voyage promotion for AfterShock Events Promotions.

The battling Haggler Brothers, now fighting out of Woodbridge, VA, will be involved in this card. Heavyweight Jonathan Haggler (18-1, 13 KO's) faces the returning Orion Sistrunk of Philadelphia in a six-round encounter. Haggler scored a first-round TKO over Alonzo Cutchins in his last outing on September 25 in Springfield, VA. Sistrunk (5-22-1, one KO) has not fought since April of 2003 and is winless in his last six.

Cruiserweight Joseph Haggler will try to bounce back from losing his pro debut to Terry Roy on July 14 in Winchester, VA by facing Robert Irizarry of Stamford, CT. Irizarry (1-4) lost a four-round unanimous decision to Phillip Miller on July 18 in Boston, MA.

Virginia cruiserweight prospect "Cold Blood" Patrick Budd returns to action as he faces veteran Johnny Walker of Winston-Salem, NC in a four-round contest. Budd (1-0) hasn't fought since winning his pro debut by unanimous decision against Drew Wion on April 28 in Fisherville, VA. Walker (3-18-2, two KO's) will be trying to break a 10-bout losing streak over a six-year period.

Woodbridge featherweight Andre "Clockwork" Nichols will also be on the card as he faces DC's Yieta Johnson Nichols (2-2, one KO) lost his last outing to Travis Mallin by four-round unanimous decision on September 15 in Springfield, VA. Johnson (0-1) has not fought since losing his pro debut to Eric Hunter in June of 2005 in Philadelphia.

Two Beltway Boxers will make their return to action on this card. Manassas, VA middleweight Orazio "The Razor" Robinson will return to action after an almost two-year absence. Robinson (5-3-2, four KO's) hasn't fought since losing a six-round majority decision to Jose Angel Rodriguez on March 9, 2006 in Glen Burnie, MD. Robinson will try to break a two-bout losing streak against John Scalzi of Altoona, PA. Scalzi (14-37, two KO's) hasn't fought in more than two years, losing his last outing to Eric Aiken by first-round TKO in Wheeling, WVA. Scalzi will look to snap an 11-bout losing streak.

Also returning will be Woodbridge heavyweight "Dangerous" Dana Dunston who will step back in the ring for the first time in more than seven years. Dunston (3-1, two KO's, two NC's) last fought in September of 2000 when he was stopped by Tony Thompson in the third round in Glen Burnie, MD. Dunston will take on Robert Monroe of Front Royal, VA
(0-3). Monroe will try to get his first win of his career and his first win against a fellow Beltway Boxer, losing twice to Terry Roy and once to Adam Bloom.

The main event will be an eight-round matchup of two out-of-town heavyweights. "The Italian Hitman" Paul Marinaccio of Cary, NC will take on Paris, AR's Stacy "Goodnight" Goodson.

Marinaccio (23-3-2, 10 KO's) is coming off a first-round TKO over Ron Johnson on November 3. Ironically, the knockout took place in Goodson's hometown of Paris, AK. Two of Marinaccio's losses have come to former world champion Chris Byrd and contender Timor Ibragimov.

Goodson (37-37-2, 20 KO's) has a career that stretches back to 1994. Goodson fought in every year of that period except 2006. Goodson has fought at numerous weights against the likes of former world champions Glen Johnson and Donny Lalonde as well as contenders like Larry Marks, Julian Letterlough and Rob Calloway. Goodson is looking to break a five-bout losing streak.

  3. I can promise you half of these fights wom't take place but they have a heck of a fighter on the card in Orazio Robinson. He is much better than his record indicates.
A great fight would be him against Jimmy lange but I don't think it will ever happen.

  6. Ugh, someone please tell the promoters of that Ashburn card that if you're having a show in the Beltway area, there should be AT LEAST 1 Beltway fighter in the main event.

  7. Stacy "Goodnight" Goodson is a legend on internet boxing sites.

Just for that, I'm willing to wade through the undercard dreck just to see Goodnight in action.

Did someone say Orazio Robinson is a heck of a fighter? Maybe if his chin held up. But I think Lange would reach it rather easy.

And building fighters means putting them in against steadily improving competition where they face some adversity without being overmatched.

Putting fighters in with absolute bums means protecting them while they sell tickets.

You don't build fighters by putting them in with bums. It usually ruins them because they never find out to correct the mistakes they're making.

  8. How come that kid from virginia Bayan Jargnal is not on any of these cards I really have enjoyed seeing him his last couple of fights.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Orazio Robinson is a very good fighter.

How many fights you got BoxBible? You are always on here putting fighters down.

People are soooo tough on the computer.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dana Dunston where hav you been?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Against my better judgement but here goes...
we share your concerns about building fighters and competitiive bouts. I think if you take a truly unbiased look you'll see that the so called opponents have either more experience or present specific obstacles against the fighters we are building...Orazio, Dana, Andre, Patrick and Joe in this case.
Also Orazio's bout was scheduled to be the co main event but that fight will not happen...instead we have Bayan Jargal v Nate Francis in the co main event. Orazio will be on our next card in early 08.
One last thing, we are a national company meaning we have fighters who do not live along the Beltway and they may be in main events as well.
Our goal is to put on a quality show and build fighters with potential. We are not bringing in opponents who will fall down if you blow wind at them.
Hope you'll support us and your comments and suggestions are welcome.
One last thing...we planned on fights dropping out. We have more than enough bouts waiting to step in. In fact we are already working on our next show.
    Have a great Thanksgiving.

  13. Asim,

    Yeah!

Bayan... Perfect addition! Look forward to your first fight! Very good to have back up fighters, though this is an also even more unexpected treat... to have a backup as good... if not even better than what fell through. Great start! Look forward to the fights on the 15th and wish you the very best.

  14. ARE ALL THESE FIGHTS ON JAKE SMITHS SHOW GONNA BE THE FIGHTS THAT WE WILL PAY TO SEE ARE THERE GONNA BE CHANGES.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks Linda, Gary and everyone else who've been truly supportive of our efforts.

BTW- I think the Baltimore cards look good also.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon:

A week ago, I asked Jake how secure his card was. His response to me was:

"I have the contracts signed and in my hand."

That's why I said, barring last minute injuries, the card is set.

Of course, anything can happen and all boxing cards are subject to change.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jake's card is going to to be the Bomb too. (No pun intended)!

    ReplyDelete
  18. For Jake's show, they say all the matches are set. Thw whole card looks good...

And on second look, The Ashburn card does look more solid than the opponents' records indicate.

Asim seems to have put together fairly competetive bouts between prospects and losers with more experience.

Even though these guys are losers, it doesn't look like they're overmatched to the point of being blown out. If they decide to put up a tussle, the prospects might actually have to fight and learn something!

    ReplyDelete
  19. A handful of Beltway fighters have recently stepped up to the plate.

But I have a feeling Thomas Snow's plate is gonna be filled with a big, fat Thanksgiving turkey leftover.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Looks like Bayan Jargal's opponent is a stiff, but at least Bayan's giving away over ten pounds.

That's another way to help fighters develop. Especially a guy like Bayan who thinks KO all the time.

A heavier guy whom he can't hurt might be a good way to get him to do more boxing instead of bulldozing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. sorry guys, that was 1-0 vs 3-18-2(10 bout losing streak)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I wasnt planning to go to Ashburn anyway. But thats pretty bad show.

    ReplyDelete
  23. but the va guys have been out of it for awhile. Looks better than some of Farmers and Kims cards.
    I'll be there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Besides the Hagler and Sistrunk fight, the rest of the card looks good. I'll give the new guys a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. worst card in 40 years?? I doubt that seriously.
    ABC Sporst Arena 6-9-07
    16-3 v 0-5 (5 ko)
    3-0-1 v 0-2 (2 ko)
    3-1 v 0-3 (3ko)
    1-8 v 1-11-1 who cares?
    pro debut v 14-19 (11 straight ko)
    4-0 v pro debut
    5-1 v 0-6 (5 ko)

and there are more just as bad.
    I'll be at Jake's and Asim's!

  26. ONLY IN VIRGINIA!!

  27. MONGOLIAN POWER!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like that! Mongolian Power! I would definitely buy a ticket in any state to see him.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Ballroom cards are always great! I never miss those. So many fighters that I've seen their I now see on TV and they are the only promoter that doesn't have fighters. As a guy that spends money - I'd rather go to a show where they aren't agendas. That's in the Ballroom.

    ReplyDelete
  30. hey, that June 9th show was my show. Yes, I have to agree that it was pretty sad show and I promiss to beltway people that I will never do shows like that again.

I also like to thank Jake Smith for using 3 of my guys on his Dec.7th show. Willis Lockett, Lawrence Jones and John Mackey will be there to fight.
    Han KIm-

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey Mr. Middendorf... how many opponents has Thomas Snow turned down so far? Are there still any suitable turkeys leftover so soon after Thanksgiving?

    ReplyDelete
  32. It is the same ol' same ol' with the ABC shows in Virginia. Although, if you do not like these shows stay home.

Han Kim needs to hire a Matchmaker and listen to the Matchmaker. He needs to pay the fighters money instead of just getting them wins.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I see Jargals opponent is 6'3" and has won his last two. Hmmm may be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think adding Bayan Jargnal to your card was a good idea I have seen his last two fights and he makes it worth your while to come and see him. Were can we get tickets because me and my co- workers will be there to support the Mongolian Mongoose he is very exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anyway to provide the addresses for the upcoming boxing venues?

Would be nice to have this going forward into 2008 as well.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Here is one of them. good idea about that info being included, but it's a lot on Gary just be responsible for this. You can always go to the promoters website (think most promoters have sites, do a search if you don't see it listed here and get that info). Here's the link for the 12/15 fight:

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks Linda. Yes, info is posted on our website www.aftershockevents.com
Tickets are on sale now. Seating is limited.
We are also planning two Ballroom type events for 2008.

  38. To say that this card is better than the Left Hook or Han Kims shows is nothing but an attempt to
try to promote this show by onr of the many hands in on the promotion
    of the show.The most dissapointing
part of this show is that Orazio Robinson is not on the Card.I guess the person that said half of the fights won't take place knew wht he was talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would like to wish all the fighter's on the last three shows the best of luck. I would also like to ask Tony Jeter for a rematch sometime in Febuary.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Re: Thomas Snow
I offered Snow's manager two fighters both of which they readily accepted. Unfortunately they have each pulled out. The real issue here is that there are very few fighters under 140 any where. Fight cards across the country have depended upon a steady influx of available talent from Mexico. With our borders being basically shut down, it is extremely hard and quite expensive ( roughly $3000. for a visa) for a promoter to bring in a light weight fighter for a fight. So with that happening, you now have promoters across the country fighting over the small number of light weight fighters. And those that might be solid, tough opponents for Thomas Snow or Tyrell Samuel or whomever, can ask for much more money, and get it. Clearly this is not a situation that is going to get better.

    ReplyDelete
  41. McCombs, I thought you were already scheduled to fight in February? As I said, 5-1 you won't fight in Feb 08. In fact won't fight in 08 period. Why, cuz you are not destined for even mediocrity in this sport and unlike Matt Hill, you don't have the heart to be a fulltime opponent.

Why are you pretending to still be a fighter? You tried and got ko'd twice against low level competition, though Jeter did show early promise before he quit the sport. You haven't fought for almost 6 years but yet talk about almost being back. Back to what? A easy ko for stiffs? You beat one guy who never fought again, lost to another who never won again, and still another who is upside down.

Time to move on Richard, no shame in not succeeding in this game. Lots of shame in pretending to be something your not. . . a prizefighter. Its a great sport, you can play a role as a fan or maybe even a trainer but the truth is not as a fighter.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Emily Klinefelter's gonna be on the card... alright!

Whoa... an idea just hit me!!! Maybe she can fight Thomas Snow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I appreciated the good sport of boxing and come 2008. I will fight what my team has planed is one thing but I want a rematch with Jeter. Honestly my friend you had to much hater aid if we sparred and I crushed you let it go.

    ReplyDelete
  44. When are you gonna fight Richard and who do you want to fight.

    ReplyDelete
  45. why do you want a rematch a guy who punished you in a round

    ReplyDelete
  46. McCombs, Bomber makes a point. What would a rematch prove? Jeter has lost 2 of 3 and is for all intents and purposes done in boxing after his last fight and long layoff. Are you even sparring? You training? Who does your team consist of, Angelo Snufalofugus? Phantom Duva?
Bomber appears to be giving good advice, you should heed it and stop pretending to be a part of the boxing community. No one is hating you, for that you would need to be a player and since you last got starched 6 years ago you haven't been in the game. I'ld say your glory days are done, however you never achieved any glory. You lack the work ethic to get back in the ring, the skill to survive in the ring and the sense to know it was over before it ever started.
Young kids could use some mentoring, a trainer to get started, a good sparring partner, change your focus . . .stop playing professional boxer no one buys it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Carney Bowman would fight thomas Snow but Snow wouldn't fight Bowman.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ease up on Richard, he's a fine young man. Richard, prove these guys wrong and take a fight somewhere locally. What happened to Germany?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just an update to the Dogs of War card on 12/15:
Tracey Brewer has been added to the card and the ring announcers will be
Mr. Henry 'Discombobulating' Jones along with Mr. Eric Sutton.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The person talking about Mccombs
you are one of those people who sit around the computer trying to convince yourself and anyone who will read your bullshit that you are intelligent about this game and you have the knowledge to pass judgment on someone else.In other words your'e a self proclaimed critic like most of the puke's on this website. Talk about yourself and let Richard live his Fantasy if he wants too.
