When he's announcing heavyweights, Beltway ring announcer "The Auctioneer" Brad Dudley likes to say that a boxer "tips the Toledos" when announcing his weight.
If Dudley was announcing tonight's Corey "T-Rex" Sanders bout in Berlin, Germany, he probably would say "tips the Toledos..over..at 358 1/2 pounds!
That was Sanders's weight as he steps into the ring against undefeated Steffan Kretschmann tonight. Kretschmann weighed in at 234 pounds.
You all know my feelings towards this bout. The weight issue only increases the foolishness.
Gary,I might have to announce it as "he weighted in at an estimated 358 since our scales don't register over 350." and Henry might say..".....Introducing from where I think the blue corner,is...."
ReplyDeleteBTW Gary, referree Don Risher is the one who told me about the Toledos at my first pro bout, and I only use it with the heavies.
Thanks Brad
sad sad sad sad sad sad
ReplyDeleteCool! Tips the Toledos! Brad is one of the best!
ReplyDeleteReally sad about Sanders. I can't believe Germany is letting him fight. I know a guy needs a buck, but what about your sight?
Just like Gary said, he's blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. How can you fight and defend yourself with no eyesight?
I guess Gypsy Joe Harris did it, but at least he had one good eye. When the commission found out about his blind eye, they wouldn't let him fight anymore. That was in the 60's! Now, some close to 50 years later, this type of foolishness is going on! Have commissions really helped the sport? NO! Privatize boxing, get the G OUT! (as in Government)!
I love corey he's one of my closes friends and he has asked me to tell you Gary! to please back off his case. he stated that he told you once before this is my life & I know what im doing. Corey is not blind let's get that part straight he isn't helpless, they allow him to fight bcuz he passed the eye exam. I would like all that maybe concern to address your concerns to Corey Sanders himself @ Corkehi@yahoo.com and not on a Blog create making him look like a full which he is not. On behalf of Corey Sanders Thanks and God Bless.
ReplyDeleteRichard,
ReplyDeleteCorey is one my friends and that is why I have been on his case. Like you, I have seen him closeup and if he isn't blind, if he keeps it up, he will be. I don't want to have him like that.
In Trinidad, he went to the weigh-in with sunshades on. I've seen the photos and talked to those who were there.
If he is so healthy, than he would be able to fight somewhere in the US. I've talked to Corey and I still have a problem with this.
Digital isn't on the man's case, he has the man's best wishes at heart. If he isn't blind, how come he can't get licensed in America? Also, it makes the sport look bad when Sanders can box anywhere. It's got to be a tough situation that Sanders is in. Everybody needs a buck and I'm sure Sanders is no different. Digital is saying what he's saying out of respect and concern; he's not on the man's case.
ReplyDeleteGary I understand what your saying I am not trying to disrespect you I am only stressing Corey views & concerns.
ReplyDeleteCorey is in denial which is not a river in Egypt.
ReplyDeleteRichard,
ReplyDeleteYou're protecting your friend and that's very admirable of you. You are a fine young man for do so. But what you really need to tell Sanders is the truth, and not necessarily what he needs to hear. The truth is that the man is definitely blind in one eye and I've heard from a good source that his other eye is bad too. His brain is going to be bad before too long if he keeps getting whacked in the head because he can't see the punches coming. He's going to be blind and brain damaged, not a good combination. Richard, tell him to stop, maybe he'll listen to you.
Regardless of your profession or the actions you take in life, people take risk..The value of your life, sight, your mental capicity may have a different price tag than someone whom is not in the sport of boxing,, Mesi, Holyfield with definite slowness of speech, Bowe with a definite slurr in speech and Im sure others all have put a price tag on their obviously deteriorating abilities....Corey is not alone in his continued quest....If I could do anything about it if it were my husband...he would not be boxing....Another Boxer's Wife
ReplyDeleteAt 358.5 hes only there for a check thats a 100 lbs larger than his last weigh-in,,,he will take a knee early get his check and hopefully get out of there none worse for wear.
ReplyDeletePuffy Combs,
ReplyDeleteAre you nuts? Stick to the rap game. Mr Will is right Corey should not be fighting. ANd you still stiffed my son his autograph. Big Popa would be pissed P Diddy Combs!
Jesus loves you all! Trust in him today. For God So loved the world that he gave his only
ReplyDeleteBegotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John
3:16
We all have sinned and fallen short of God's standards(refer to 10 commandments). Because of
it we are destined to be separated from God for eternity! Whether it be a big sin or the
smallest sin, we are ALL guilty before God. Jesus is the sacrifice for you all(died to cover
one's sins), and those that choose to accept him will be saved. LISTEN TO YOUR
CONSCIENCE....You never know when it is too late.(death often comes when we least expect
it)..This is a message compelled out of love for you all. I am not condemning you, God is
the judge and so it isnt my job to condemn. Jesus came to save the world not condemn it. I
encourage you all to at least ask God if this is true if you still doubt. Believe me, Ive
even doubted before and asked God to "show himself" or "confirm" his promises. He WILL do
it! God bless you!
WTF? Jesus spam?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, let's review: dude's (at least partially) blind, and is nearing 360 lbs (and is only 5-6). Yikes, that, honestly, is scary. Someone needs to stop this NOW!
6-5. Correction. BTW, he lost an 8 round decision.
ReplyDeleteDo not defer to God or Jesus, a decision that is too hard or unpleasant for you to make yourself. That's called a cop out.
ReplyDeleteThere is no "right" answer for a case such as Sanders. On the one hand, he has every right as a free human being to risk himself in whatever way he wants for whatever perceived reward.
On the other hand, people who know him or like him have every right to dissuade him from his perceived follies.
The only decision that can be enforced is by the overseers of the sport who have every right, within their rules, to deny him if it is deemed that it may be bad for the sport.
Unfortunately, Sanders has found a loophole.
BTW... what would Jesus do if he were the commissioner?
if jesus was the commissioner;
ReplyDeletea,you wouldn't need a piss test
b,you wouldn't need a blood test
c,there would be a standing 8 count
d,and ofcourse you could be SAVED by the final bell
Excellent!
ReplyDeleteYou guys ease up on Richard, he's a decent, honest, young man who is a Christian. You shouldn't make fun of him.
