Former two-time WBC Middleweight champion Keith Holmes lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Tito "El Musil" Mendoza in Panama during the WBA "KO Drugs" festival.
According to Fightnews.com's Boxing Bob Newman, the bout was a snoozer as both men posed and clutched for the entire bout.
Holmes's record drops to 40-5, 25 KO's while Mendoza's record rises to 36-7, 29 KO's.
Keith,
ReplyDeleteCall it a day and don't make excuses. While you are retiring, take Joppy with you. You both had your great days in the ring, but they are far behind you now!
Tom Tanko
Tom,what makes you an authority on retirement, alot of great champs have come back at a late age and done well .You know nothing about Boxing if you think these guys should retire.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone thinks these two guys can still make it at their advanced age, you must have already taken one too many shots to the head... the same thing that's eventually gonna happen to Holmes and Joppy.
ReplyDeleteThats what they said about George Forman,Bernard Hopkins, Archie Moore, and a few more. Depending on the competition I think both Holmes and Joppy can still compete at a high level.
ReplyDeleteThose three were the exception of the exceptions... What about the hundreds of other fighters that didn't quite manage to keep their goods intact at an advanced age... Neither Joppy nor Holmes have shown anything to indicate that they are going to be exceptions to one of the golden rules of boxing... in fact, judging by their recent performances, you have to wonder how they could possibly delude themselves into thinking that they can make it back to the top. I can understand if they were kicking some real butt, but damn...
ReplyDeleteI agree Joppy has lost his fire I watched as a Bum fighter Richard Mccomb Rocked him bad...
