DC featherweight Ron "Teflon" Boyd was stopped in the first round by undefeated John Molina last night in San Jacinto, CA.
Boyd got off to a good start in the round, knocking down Molina. It was the first time Molina had been knocked down in his career. However, Molina rallied and forced referee Tony Crebs to stop the contest at 2:28 of the round.
Boyd had his five-bout winning streak snapped with the loss and now has a record of 5-2, two KO's. Molina is now 8-0, six KO's.
Give Boyd credit, he will fight anyone, anywhere at anytime.
ReplyDeleteUnlike you Thomas (Pick em easy) Snow.
THATS THE THRUTH!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell you guys bring up my name? I will fight someone like that in couple years. until then I am gonna enjoy my undefeated record. KO SNOW !
ReplyDeleteBoyd has not been willing to fight anyone, anywhere at anytime. That is far from the truth. Up until now he has not been willing to go fight out of town and has turned down any number of local fights because the guy was just not right.
ReplyDeleteBut what is sad here is that he goes off for some reason and fights as a pure opponent somewhere against a very tough kid. If his management or Ron himself want to go out of town to fight as opponents, then there are certainly fights in Philly or New York that they can take where he is on a level playing field. This was stupid and just another instance of brain dead management.
Really, if your lawyer or doctor made a mistake like this, you could sue him/her for malpractice. But if your boxing manager does this you are lauded as being someone who is willing to fight "anyone, anywhere, anytime". The better way to say that is your manager or you were willing to lose to "anyone, anytime, anywhere", as long as the money was right. If Boyd has a manager, he should sue him/her for malpractice. If it was his trainer, he should tell that trainer not to mess in his affairs. And finally, if for financial reasons he ever wants to take a fight like that again, he should get on the internet and check the guy out. Then when he has all the information that he can gain, he should call any of the matchmakers in the area- Josh, Chris, JD and ask them for their advice on the guy. If they do not know him, then call around and check with some of the matchmakers in the area of the fight and find out everything you can before you sign on the line for another loss.
I agree with Tom. I have put Ron in some fights and tried to put him in others and it has not been easy. And I have always believed that Ron could fight and that at 35 or whatever he is that he should be more busy and just go for it because he can fight. But there is a difference between going for it in a tough fight where you have a good shot and the fight has some meaning and going for it in a situation where you are a 70-30 underdog. Lets hope that Ron comes home and is more aggressive fighting locally, because he is a winner.
ReplyDeleteAnd finally, Ron has always said to me that he would only fight at 130. In this case he went out and fought a guy whose last fight was at 142.
ReplyDeleteIM SORRY TOM AND CHRIS THE TIME I HAVE KNOWN RON HE HAS FOUGHT ALL PEOPLE WITH WINNIG RECORDS AND IM NOT GOING TO SAY WHO BUT SOME PEOPLE DONT WANT TO FIGHT HIM AND HE WOULD FIGHT ANYONE ANYTIME I HERD HE WANTS A REMATCH WITH THE GUY
ReplyDeleteTOM AND CHRIS U GUYS ARE SOME DUMB ASSES HE WILL FIGHT ANYONE AT ANY TIME
ReplyDeleteThomas Snow you are the hardest boxer I have ever had to deal with. You always want an easy match. I stopped dealing with you over a year ago and I see things have not changed. We offered you $1,250 for the Reading fight and you wanted nothing to do with him because he was 3-0 at the time. On the hand you chose Freddy because he was 0-8 and was knocked out cold in his last 3 fights. You really need to step it up, you are not getting any younger and your boxing skills are declining extremely fast. I will be contacting Winfro monday and see if you will fight Yalande? He is 7-0 with 6 ko's. Now lets see if you can back all that talk up. We will box you right in your back yard.
ReplyDeleteNo Excuses Thomas. I do not want to hear it... You need to fight someone who is breathing-we are all tired of your shananigans...
I knew it
ReplyDeleteTHOMAS (NO SHO) NO GO) Snow
ReplyDeleteI have been there with Lonnie at all of us his fights and Chris is very true.We were very hard to deal with but that was my job. To make sure that he was protected at all times. He will bounce back and be very sucessful because that is who big his heart is.No one can measure that. Sometimes we make bad choices when everyone is not in your best interest. That was not a bad fight for him it was just to early. He has already prove to everyone that he can fight and get better. He also prove that he can come back from a loss and be very sucessful. So what that being said I wish him the best and I will always be in his corner.
ReplyDeleteThomas Snow can and will fight tough in due time.
ReplyDeleteGive him ten or twelve years will you.
everyone who think Lonnie camp is dumb is stupid because at his age boxer are at end of the fight game So TOM IF YOU HAVE A GOOD FIGHT FOR LONNIE GIVE HIM YOUR # HE AND HIS CAMP WILL COME UP 95 NORTH EVERYONE WHO THINK THAT KNOW BOXING DON'T PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT THE MANAGEMENT TEAM WORK FOR THE FIGHTER. CHRIS ARE YOU MAD LONNIE FOUGHT AT 134 NOT ON YOUR CARD I KNOW LONNIE,MARK,REGGIE AND HAM THEY KNOW ABOUT THE GAME MIKE WARRICK GOT THE HIS BEST FIGHTS UNDER MARK MANAGEMENT BUT LONNIE RUN HIS SHOW. HE CAN'T GET A FIGHT AT HOME. D WILLIAM DO YOU THINK THAT WAS A BAD FIGHT.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the fight was necessarily a bad one for Ron. He needed to know where he stood at this point.
ReplyDeleteThe age is a factor as well, Ron needs to be on a fast track, and I know it has been difficult, for whatever reason, for Ron to get fights here.
Hopefully, it was a decent payday for him and his team.
I also think these comments towards Thomas Snow are unwarrented. Until recently, Snow has been making his own bouts himself. He has not had real strong management up until this point.
ReplyDeleteNow that he is with Lovell Long, I believe that will change. I think we should wait and see if that happens.
who the hell is tom molineaux and chris middendorf this is ron teflon boyd. i took the fight because i believe i could win and i slip.the dude couldn't bet me the ref stop it earily i don't have a bump or anything. and for all these dude thats hidding behind this internet be a man and say all you have to say face to face. dont judge me on the internet come see me face to face. tom i dont know you and i will respect gary web and not use the wrong word but you can leave it like that. for you chris i dont need you you are nobody to me. if i push up on you you will call the police on me you and this tom dude.i am the wrong NIGGA but the right person believe that. last but not least for the person that been following me you work for me i made you look good you did make me. i told you what to do. i live my life the way i want to live
ReplyDeleteWow, are we starting to get violence threatened on the Beltway blog? To me, that's the time you might want to think about shutting it down. To everyone out there -- Boyd included -- this is a forum for conversation about boxing. Criticism should be welcome. A lot of dumb stuff is said here. Some of it hurts, but we all need to be stronger than words. Some of it is too stupid to justify. People in boxing are last people who should be talking punk stuff. This sport is supposed to teach you discipline, to rise above the garbage being thrown your way. If you box, you know how lethal you are. That's why you must not fight outside the ring. Don't let words hurt you and be WISE enough to see criticism and commentary as worthwhile, not a personal attack. Everyone take a deep breath, go soak in a tub and chill the fuck out.
ReplyDeleteHEY TOM AND CREW THIS IS REGGIE I HELP LONNIE. I SEE YOU SAID IT WAS A BAD FIGHT FOR HIM BUT MIKE RICASA WAS 5-0 LONNIE WAS 1-1 JOEY AND GOODWIN BOTH HAD 5 WINS EVERYONE ALWAYS HAS BAD THINGS TO SAY WHEN A PERSON LOSES. SINCE WE HAVE BEEN TRAINING WITH US HE HAS BEEN ON A 5 FIGHT WINNING STREAK. AND FOR THE PERSON WHO STATED THAT WE WERENT CONCERNED FOR WHAT WAS BEST FOR HIM WE DONT ONLY TRAIN HIM WE ARE CLOSE FRIENDS SO WE HAVE A RELATIONSHIP OUTSIDE OF BOXING AND ARE ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR WHAT IS BEST FOR EACH OTHER
ReplyDeleteHey Lonnie, tough loss. My man Mike Samadani was in attendance and he said that you looked like you could have easily fought on. Regardless, I know you can and will come back from this. In fact, it might make you look vulnerable to the unknowing fool and actually make it easier to get some fights. My advice would be to take a week off and get right back in the gym Babyboy. Don't get down man. Answer the critics with some big wins. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMike Sawyer
And Snow, call me damn it! I lost your #.

ReplyDeleteHey TC this is Reggie my call me if you need my help (240)304-9063
ReplyDeleteRon Teflon Boyd sounds like a waste of everyone's time...
ReplyDeleteI'll stay anonymous cos it sounds like if he knew who I was, he might come after me and I'd have to call the police. Who the hell wants to deal with crap like that?
Quite the contrary, Lonnie is not only an easy-going nice guy. He is not at all hard to deal with. I'm not going to prtetend to know what goes through his mind or tell you what makes his team (Mark, Ham, or the rest of the fellas) take or not take a fight. But what I do know is that Lonnie ain't afraid of anyone, and I speak from experience. Look, Lonnie isn't unaware of his age, not his marketablility (and age)limitations on this coast. That said, show him the money. Lonnie isn't a f**king hoodlum. He's not coming to anyone's house to kick their ass for talking bad about him. He is a good guy... a good guy who has seen the worse of what the sport of boxing has to offer. I realize that signing my name to this will open me up to criticism and I don't mind. Lonnie is a good guy and doesn't deserve criticism. I've seen him go out of his way to give novice fighters tips and take it easy on lesser fighters while sparring. I've never seen him say no to work in the gym. Lonnie always conducts himself like a pro. Lonnie, keep doing what you're doing man. Everyone I know has got love for you man. Anyone else shouldn't matter.
ReplyDeleteMike Sawyer
Mike I agree he's a good guy that got a bad hand in a card game.I hope he don't let this get in his way.Once again people lets get behind our fighters so what he lost.He said he took the fight himself so he know what he was up against
ReplyDeleteBoyd why are you fighting if you can't take it the good with the bad.So what people said that you took the wrong fight. As long as you know it was your choice.Yes we know you are not a great fighter but a ok fighter
ReplyDeleteNot as good as "Too Sharp" right Too........, er, I mean, Anonymous?
