Virginia State Title Clash Highlights July 14 Winchester Card!

There will be a Left Hook Boxing Promotions card "Tomorrow's Champions IV" coming to the Winchester Sportsplex in Winchester, VA on Saturday, July 14.

Promoter Scott Farmer has put together a Virginia State Lightweight title bout between two Alexandria-based boxers, Jaime "The Punisher" Palma and Calvin "Peko" Faggins.

Palma (11-10-1, two KO's) has won his last four bouts, including his last contest, a six-round unanimous decision over Edward Anderson on February 17 in Winchester. Faggins (3-3-1, one KO) has not fought since June of 1996 when he was knocked out in the second round by future world champion Paul Spadafora.

Another match already signed will feature undefeated Front Royal, VA junior middleweight Warren "The Mack" Clatterbuck (5-0, two KO's) against Norfolk, VA's Antwon "Supreme" Barrett (0-3). Clatterbuck is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over Billy Mitchem on the February 17 Winchester show. Barrett lost his last bout by first-round knockout to Ruslan Provodnikov on April 28 in Mashantucket, CT.

Also slated on the card will be other Virginia favorites Andrew "The Doo Man" Farmer, Terry "T-Brick" Roy, Todd "White Lightning" Wilson and Andre Nichols.

Beltway Boxing photographer Linda Siadys has a photo spread from the recent press conference in Winchester. Here's the link:

  11. Hey Pit Bull, Tough fight last time out. You have had a good career. Do you think it is time to hang it up especially how it ended last time.

  14. State Title! ha! Dean White would beat both guys blindfolded!

  15. Sawyer is a bum!

    ReplyDelete
  16. what are you guys all talking about?
Mike Sawyer is the best fighter in Beltway. One of the best fighter on the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mike Sawyer would knock the piss out of Dean White. Less than 2 rounds.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Actually, Stew,

From what I hear, the guy Farmer is fighting is a good one named Marcos Antonio Soto. I've been told he's a two-time Armed Forces champ. He's making his pro debut on this card, though. The lack of pro experience could be a factor.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What you here? From who His Trainer/Dad!

Ok, check to see for sure if the guy is a bum or not at the fight!

Farmer could be someone but fighting the same guy or bum every month is only going to set him up for a huge loss.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Mike Sawyer would destroy
Warren The "Old Man Beater" Clatterbuck!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dean Myers looked like an old man the last fight. He did not get ko'd he got Knocked the F out!

    Retire and save your brains!

He looked like he was taken a DUI Test with the Police.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Make Sawyer is the biggest ticket seller period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Looks like he didn't "SAVE HIS BRAINS", good advice slick.

    ReplyDelete
  24. sawyer is a bum! It's different if you fight your best and try to get better, but the dude already thinks he is nice, and he is not....he sucks

  26. Just found out who Mike Sawyer is fighting next... he has to choose between one of these three guys...

    - Tom A. Tokan
    - Noah Chin
    - Lex Argon

Scott Farmer gets one of the leftovers and Lawrence Jones gets the tough one...

  27. THen MIke need to shut his mouth or fight a real fighter, and stop being baby fed fighting these guy who aint even won a fight. Check it out, the opponents Mike beat hae a whopping combined record of 0-12, and the guy that beat him was 0-0. what a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hahaha, this is so funny. why is everyone picking on Mike Sawyer? He is a good guy. I am not just saying because everyone thinks he sells hundreds of tickets for my shows. No, he sells about 30-50 tickets per show. I am just saying this because he really is a good guy. And he tries really hard. Lets leave him alone. And you Anonymous, Thank you very much for calling me a legendary but I am not even a caliber of fighter as Sharmbay, keith holmes, Joppy, chop chop or too sharp. Those guys are legends in the area. Thanks anyway who ever you are.
    Han Kim-

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think its because he thinks he is sooo bad. But for real though facts are facts. He hasnt fought creditable opponents to talk like he is bad.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Here's proof that Sugar Han Kim is indeed a legend... some dude mentioned it in boxrec... it's about half way down the thread.

  31. My 1st post on this site. I have been reading these posts & I am willing to get in the ring with "MONEY" Mike Sawyer. I read on a previous post that he called "toughman fighters" bums and that he'd whoop any of them, well, I am a previous toughman fighter with a decent record 12-5 7kos and I myself am a "ticket seller". Haven't fought for a year but I am in the gym and bored, I would take & make a fight with Sawyer if he is game.. just name me the time/date Han Kim.. with all respect, I think it would make for a big show & big fight... not to mention a big win for myself! :)

    Sincerely,
    Ken "The Big Hurt" Hock

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sawyer vrs Hock, should be a good fight.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dear ken, Thank you very much for your offer to fight Mike Sawyer. But at this time, I think you have had too much experience for Money Mike. Mike only had 5 fights under his belt and I dont think VA state commission nor Mike Sawyer would accept that fight at this time, but definitly for the future. Thanks again and stay in touch with me . Han Kim-

    ReplyDelete
  34. Han, have you seen some of the fights that the Va. boxing commision has let happen? Are you serious that you don't know if a fight of myself vs Sawyer might be in question? He's 4-1, I'm 12-5, he had 30 amateur fights, I had 0. I thought a "competitive" fight with 2 guys that both have a winning record for a show down there would be something to look forward to not to mention few & far between.. come on Han, sure looks good on paper! Let's have a real "fight"... I'm game

    ReplyDelete
  35. hey Ken, OK! I will ask Money Mike tomorrow morning and let you know as soon as I find out how he feels aou he fight. Thanks.
    Han Kim-

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey Han,

Tell Money Mike to have a seat before you tell him he's being challenged... after all, you don't need your #1 ticket-seller calling in sick because he hurt his head after fainting...

    ReplyDelete
  37. That is a big NO! Money Mike will not show up to fight "THE BIG HURT" Believe me he would be committing suicide! At this moment he would not last 2 rounds. Han Kim would last longer.

How many shows has he pulled out of at the last minute.

Mike is a good guy but he is definitely not a world class and at this moment he has no money!

    VA

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well hopefully he'll take me up on the challenge and we'll find out cuz I know I ain't going anywhere... come on Han, set it up and let's get a card up! Just give me a date and a weight.. Thanks!

    Hock

    ReplyDelete
  39. dear ken, I talked with Money Mike this morning and he tells me he is temporarily retired. He needs to work and pay his bills because boxing is not doing it for him at this time. But I will look for a different opponent for you to fight on August 11th. What weight class would you want to fight at?
    Han Kim-

    ReplyDelete
  40. Han, thanks for the reply.. not a problem! August is a busy month for me as of now but give me a call sometime & we can talk (717)729-2574 Thanks..

    ReplyDelete
  41. The Big Hurt punked Mike Sawyer and Han Kim.

It would be a set up now if you boxed in VA.

Fight Mike or nobody at all.

Kim will not pay you anything unless you sell your house in tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is Mike not fighting on the 14th or on Aug 11th? Mike at this stage of your carrier it's not about the money. Don't let people talk you down from something you claim to love. Prove them wrong just fight your best win lose or draw.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If Money Mike does not fight who will take his place?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I ordinarily don't respond to any criticism or compliments on the blog, only offer encouragement to my pals risking their neck in the sport we love. However, because I'm saying goodbye for least a few years (if not forever), I'd like to set a few things straight and thank a few very influential people in my life and career. A lot my "quotes" that people have read were taken way out of context. For that reason, my friends thought they were hilarious and my critics and people that didn't know me hated me for them. Whatever you may think of me as a fighter, please do not think poorly of me as a man. I have always strived to be a good man and take care of the people around me. I have never wished anything but success to all the other beltway boxers, period. I truly wish I could make the time to continue boxing. I love the sport and the comradery. However, due to a number of personal, physical, and professional reasons, I am calling it a day. Who knows? Maybe I'll be back in a few years, but only if next go round I can fully dedicate the time and energy to fulfill my potential (which has not at all been the case during my year as a professional fighter). Lastly, I want to thank everyone that has helped, trained, offered advice, or just been a friend to me that is a part of "boxingalongthebeltway". No particular order:
Dennis Porter, Luther Smith, Kay Koroma, Mouse, Tony Suggs, "Red", Lionel Butler, Steady, Fred Ledbetter (RIP) and all the rest of the fellas from ABC.
Jimmy and Jonny Lange and the whole Lange family
    Scott and Andrew Farmer
    Han Kim, Jaime Palma,
The entire Davis family(AD, Ms. B, Vic, Antwon, Vaughn, Veeda, Mouse... again, etc.)
The Shah brothers, Gary "Digital" Williams, Henry "Discombobulating" Jones, my man T.C., The Carrigan family, Junious Hinton, Junebug, Henry "Sugarpoo" Buchanan, Carlos Jones, Reggie Holly, Thomas Snow, "Peco" and Troy, Nick Caroleo, Purcell Miller, Kieth Holmes, William Joppy, James Baker, Leonard Langley & Co., NOVA Pain & Rehab, IKY clothing, "Bee" Scotland (RIP), Michael Warrick, Emmanuel Nwodo, Andre Hemphill, and anyone else I may have missed.

Be seeing you all at the fights.

    God Bless,
    Mike Sawyer
