Breaking News: L. Peterson-Spivey is Off!

I have just received word that the anticipated matchup between Lamont Peterson and Dorin Spivey scheduled for Friday, May 25 at the DC Armory is off.

Apparently, Spivey hurt his shoulder in training last night and medical proof said he cannot go on the 25th.

(I had to take the letter off because personal information can be seen)

That bout is a tough loss because that looked like a good one.

  1. Damn! Any word if they'll try to find another opponent for Peterson?

  2. Somebody said on another thread that Spivey would pull out and of course he did. He never steps up for the big fight. Tell him to stick to fighting on club shows in Virginia and complaining that he was never treated fairly. This has been the way he has acted his whole career. What a crock of bs.

  3. Lamont Peterson will of course be on this card. A new opponent will be found for Lamont and I will let Gary know in the next day or so as soon as it is finalized. I agree with most of the previous comment about Spivey. What was originally a trend of his to pull out of fights has become a bad habit. It is really too bad.

  4. Spivey, why box at all? If you dont have the heart...Many boxers are anxious, sometimes, doubtful of there abilities, but when all is said and done...COURAGE brings them into the ring to BATTLE...BE the lion ( get courage) not the tin man ( needing a heart)...Do you have a regular job?? Are you a student? If so Keep going to work or to school?

  5. I knew he would pull out. I told your so. Hey Joe whats up with your fighter or should I call him that. He's just like Adrian Davis over the hill.

  6. I heard Thompson's opponent pulled out too. This card will probably go through several more opponents before the 25th of May

  7. So I guess Spivey paid off the doctor to give him the proof. Since none of you know Spivey I guess you know all about his heart. Hey if you guys are walking around with a set that big why don't one of you step up to the plate. I have never seen so many so called grown men that do nothing but whine and complain.

  20. Spivey would knock Peterson back to Mephis where he claims to be from. Spivey is just too damn tough for Peterson

  21. It seemed pretty witty last night, but needlessly combative this morning.

  22. Linda

I believe the boxer's wife was referring to the banter from the other post that were giving spivy a hard time for pulling out of the fight not yours.

  23. Yes, in re-reading it this morning, I thought that too. It's cool.

    God Bless you!

Linda is great as well. You are both boxing fans and care about the men (and women I'm sure) who are putting their lives at risk for the greatest sport ever.

I know that every boxer out there (esp. your husband, Boxer's Wife)appreciates your enthusiasm and defense of the competitors.

  28. I have read your comments and am very disappointed. As the promoter for the proposed bout between Lamont Peterson and Dorin Spivey, I am sure it is your endeavor to provide a competitive and entertaining fight, and that you would not want to present a fight to the public in which one of the contestants was less than 100%. As Dorin Spivey's advisor and legal counsel upon learning of the injury to Dorin's shoulder, I immediately had a physician examine the injured shoulder, and upon learning that Dorin was unable to fight, provided a copy of the doctor's prognosis to you. If you have doubts about the severity of the injury to Mr. Spivey, I would gladly avail him to the physician or your choice, at your expense, for a comprehensive examination of his injured shoulder. However, in the future it would be greatly appreciate if you learned the facts before posting your opinion over the internet. John W. Tripp, Esquire

  29. John, I know Dorin and he is a class act and a truly nice guy. If he wasn't injured, he'd be fighting. I'd identify myself but then I'd receive a bunch of negative bullshit on here as well. Good luck with moving Dorin and good luck to Dorin as well.

  30. Thats why its called a blogg, there just opinions and verbage....Esquire...this.is.for you to- even respond as if its a legal matter....NOT....I dont care what kind of injury it is ask your lawyer...keep your day job...BLAH BLAH...BLOGG

  31. John Tripp thank you for your comments. I hope this will put this all to rest because I too found it strange that the promoter would say something like that. I will look back in for his response but I don't expect one. Anyone that would say Dorin has not heart doesn't know him.

  32. Marty screwed me on my fight on the Tyson card and he blamed the group for bouncing checks. Bounced shoot more like jumped out the bag. He is a first class liar and that is why he hids now from all the guys he ripped off. Is he still married to the boxer I think?

    ReplyDelete
  33. John, you know me well enough (from the Boxing Spotlight days) to know that I did not voice an opinion on this situation. I reported it as I knew it, even to put up the letter as documented proof that Spivey's injury was legit.

You will find different opinions on this and they are free to give that opinion. But I did get the facts correctly and I stand by them.

Just said as point of clarification.
