The bout between former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken and former WBO Bantamweight titleholder Cruz Carvajal went to a 10-round draw at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH.
Aiken got off to a good start, but was pressured throughout by the smaller Carvajal. One judge scored it 96-95 for Aiken, another had it 96-94 for Carvajal and one judge scored it even at 96-96. This was a tough fight for Aiken especially given the circumstances he had to go through today. Aiken was fortunate to get the draw in this case.
I was watching and had to TiVo it in the 4th round. Was delighted to see our fighers,Clay's trainer I (don't remember his name), and Adrian Davis in Aikens Corner...From the way the fight was going, I am not surprised it was a draw.
ReplyDeleteAiken got beat period, once again the judges got paid for that draw, and i don't mean a paycheck.
ReplyDeleteAiken got beat clear as day. He let a guy beat him who has never fought over a 122lbs.I'm glad he got a draw but a lot of fighters are going to start call him out .I remember when people was talking about he would beat Dean from what I saw.I don't think so. Christmas came early.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. Aiken better stay down with the Featherweights because if he pops his head up in the Lightweight Division he might get it KNOCKED OFF by the likes of a Dean White.
ReplyDeleteI had it a draw even if I think Carbajal outworked him a little. Rounds 1,7,8,9, and 10 were Aiken's. That said, for God's sake, WHY WAS HE LAYING ON THE ROPES DURING THE MIDDLE ROUNDS TAKING PUNCHES?!?! Whenever he was throwing punches, whether boxing or slugging, he was outclassing the guy.
ReplyDeleteGive Aiken a damn break! Why hate on this guy. Have you ever sit down and had a conversation with him. He is one of the most decent person you will ever meet. I watched the tape several times so far and think he did pull it out.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it everyone always wants the local guy to lose?
Aiken got beat. Old school this wrong sport to be nice in. Let's face he got beat.
ReplyDeleteHow do u guys says Aiken got beaT? The judges score it a draw. The judges are professionals and they say it is a draw, it is a draw. Achen won that mecth in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteAchen is and formor wolrd champeon.
That's why you not a judge. There are not robots so they can make a mistake and yes they made a mistake here. I'm a fan not a haiter I tell it like it is.
ReplyDeleteYou said the right thing. Former world champion. He will not beat the ghost looking like that.
ReplyDeleteIf he could commit to the sport, then he wouldn't gas out after round 1. Like all the other D.C fighter's, he's a disgrace! Carvajal got robbed. The smaller guy won. Aiken needs to HANG IT UP!
ReplyDeleteHold the excuses! No matter what, he should have trained to win. What did he go through? Switching opponents. That's the sport of boxing. The switch was in his favor. Supposedly he was training to fight Valdemir Pareira, had Pareira come to fight........
ReplyDeleteI agree. If he had a trainer and not a cheerleader he would be ok.Adrian is not good for the sport anymore. Time has passed him bye.Its a new era .But make no mistake he lost the fight.
ReplyDeleteI like Aiken as a person. He should have gotten rid of Adrian some time ago. Now it's almost too late.
ReplyDeleteAiken got beat. The judges that scored a draw or otherwise give the sport of boxing a bad name.
ReplyDeleteI agree the judges scored the fight wrong. I don't know about Adrian. I am not going to speak on that. I know he lost the fight.
ReplyDeleteAdrian wasn't in there fighting. Its not his faught. Aiken got beat. Eric its ok pick up the pieces to puzzle and go back in the gym.
ReplyDeleteI HEAR THERE TALK ABOUT MARK JOHNSON AND AIKEN, I LIKE MARK IF HES SOBER
ReplyDeleteI agree Mark is getting ready to go to camp with Miguel Cotto.he's a heavyweight.
