Former World Champs Slated to Appear on Dec. 9 Patriot Center Show!

Two former world champions who are Beltway Boxing legends are slated to be a part of the next Major League Boxing card on Saturday, December 9 at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.

Former three-time world champion and future hall of famer Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson is scheduled to participate in an eight-round contest. Also, former WBO Cruiserweight champ Boone Pultz is scheduled to make a long-awaited return in a six-round bout.

Jimmy Lange is scheduled to headline the card participating in a 10-round contest. Also slated to be on the card will be Andrew "The Doo Man" Farmer and Tommy Wilt.

Remember, there are two cards in the area on Dec. 9. Clarence Vinson is scheduled to headline the show at the Lincoln Theatre in DC on that evening.

Anonymous, why waste your time talking bad about the previous show? And besides, it was a great show last time. Every fight could have conceivably been the fight of the night! All the fights were competitive and several were all out wars. And many of the guys on the show were world class name guys: Jimmy Lange, Purcell Miller, Larry Marks, Anthony Bonsante, and Dorin Spivey. And anonymous, you will probably disagree but the guy Lange fought, Wilt, and the guy Spivey fought, Valenzuela, they could fight too! I've seen a lot of fights, and been around boxing a long time, and those guys were not bums! I don't understand you people that just want to bash others trying to do something positive for boxing. If you're a boxing fan, how could you not like that show? Sound like a lot of jealousy to me. Gary, you should really make these guys sign their name. It's not right for them to put people down, call them names, talk bad about them, and then sign anonymous. Anyway, looking forward to these fights and the fights in Pikesville tonight. Jake Smith always puts on a good show.

  7. Warren,

I have tried to change the way the blog is so people cannot do anonymous posts, but I have been unsuccessful. I'll keep trying. Also, I'll see you tonight in Pikesville.

    Man With Plan:

More than likely, I will be at the Patriot Center show. Nothing against Cassandra White (promoter) or Clarence Vinson, whom I'm very curious to see in action again.

I will be doing the play-by-play for the video of the Patriot Center show, so I have to be there.

I'm trying to get one of my writing partners from Fightnews to cover the Clarence Vinson show.

  10. ACW,

Joe Hensley has the tapes and he is editing them. I don't know what he plans to do with them at this time.

  12. Gary are they trying to set up a Johnson-Vinson match and what weight are they fighting

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'd like to know if Dorin Spivey is going to fight Dean White.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The information I received about the card is all I know at this time. Joe Hensley said there will be more forthcoming, but did not elaborate.

Johnson will not be fighting Vinson because they will be on two separate cards on that night.

There is still talk of a bout between Dorin Spivey and either Dean White or Michael Warrick. But nothing is definite at this point.

  15. A person who is close to the source yes Dorin is suppose to Dean they are waiting for Dorin people to ok it

  16. I sure as hell hope that they get Mike Sawyer and Ray Grant on this card. They had a hell of a lot of fans there last time and didn't get to fight. Obviously, just being a fan, I don't know what the promoters have worked out with the fighters, but they sure as hell should give a sizable discount to Sawyer and Grant's fans this time around (if not let them in for free).

  17. Hey Gary are you sure Toosharp-lange-pultz-sawyer-grnt I'm there Joe so far you have a great show now this is a great sow Dean and spivey

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sawyer is a bum, fight a guy who has at least 1 win. All his opponents are winless.

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is the information I received straight from the promoter.

No word yet on whether Grant or Sawyer will be on the show. Grant is scheduled to be on Monday's charity show at Martin's West while Sawyer is slated to be on the November 18 show at the ABC Sports Complex.

  20. Sounds like too many fights, unless you have a bunch of quick KO's, or you start the show at 6:00.I'd hate to see the curfew bump some fighters from the show.

    ReplyDelete
  21. why did you say sawyer is a bum do you know him and if you are boxer would you fight him.Jimmy has been fighting bums. Thats how you do in boxing until you get 10 wins then you step.Paschall , Jessie ,sugar poo , Lamont , Anthony , Toosharp ,and every great fighter fought bums

  27. Joe-is that February show going to be yet another show at the Patriot Center? Also, this is just my opinion, but either at the Dec. show of the Feb. show (if it is in fact at the Patriot Center), you should let Money Mike Sawyer open the card-he is a Mason grad, after all.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey joe I heard Mark signed a 4 fight deal is it with your. Joe I think you are working on a great show for Dec and Feb So far who is fighting Spivey and did you sa y Warrick fight the winner. I think your should make those fights for a miner title. Who Mgt. Warrick

    ReplyDelete
  37. I did hear that about Sugar Poo, but I have not put out anything yet because I don't have all the facts about the situation. Once I do, I will be putting out a story on this situation.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gary is the. Show in DC still on I heard they are having problems with Vinson and the PRO

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'll find out more about the DC Dec. 9 show sometime this week.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Gary I look forward to hear from you. I spoke to Vinson and that's what he said he was upset that Toosharp is fighting on Dec he said because it feel like they are competting. And he also said he is happy to back and he had to go threw Mark to get back on track he would. G ary are you going to have him Mark and Terrible T because he said Tyson would fightMark fighte Warrick did you hear about this

    ReplyDelete
  41. I spoke to Cassandra White, the promoter for the December 9 show at the Lincoln Theatre. She says the show IS STILL ON! They are looking for another opponent for Clarence Vinson because one fell out.

Thomas "KO" Snow is also scheduled to appear on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Joe-Let me say, I'm psyched about seeing Too Sharp-he could be considered a DC legends, couldn't he?

P.S. Thanks for putting the video from the Sept. 7 show up for free and not charging for it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Gary so she and Vinson are ok I'm happy to hear that even though i think her show is in trouble she has know big names on the show what you think

    ReplyDelete
  44. ACW, Mark Johnson is a legend locally, nationally and internationally. The great thing about having Mark on this show is that it gives a rare opportunity for fans to see a future hall of famer in action. The fact that both Michael Carbajal and Chiquita Gonzalez -- two great JUNIOR flyweight champs -- went into the hall of fame last year virtually assures that Mark will go in when his time comes.

Mark will go down in history as one of the greatest boxers at 112 pounds in the last 20 years. I could spend hours talking about how great he was and how many fighters at that weight class avoided him.

What you will see on Dec. 7 will not be the same Mark Johnson that won three world titles, but still it's a great opportunity for the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gary I think you are right at a higher weight he. Will look better in this fight I guarante you he want Robert Guerra he said Eric didn't fight him right. Joe you pulled out all stops on this one Too sharp Bone it don't get know better. No disrespect to Cassandra and Vinson I would be out Va. Gary what would you do

    ReplyDelete
  46. Come on how much better can he get he's a Hall A Famer come on fool I'm happy to see him in the ribg we will see on Dec 9 if he's still agreat fighter

    ReplyDelete
  47. I will be at the Patriot Center show, primarily because I will be handling the play-by-play for the video.

But this would be a good night to learn how to be cloned! LOL
