Still Looking: Where are the Middendorf Questions?

I am scheduled to do my interview with matchmaker Chris Middendorf next week. Last week, I requested questions from the Beltway Boxing fans to ask Middendorf. To date, I have received NONE!

Where are all the fans who had the big mouths and wanted to talk bad about the man? Suddenly, when asked to put their name behind their questions, they all slink away! That's PITIFUL!

That shows that some fans have no heart. They're afraid to put their name behind what they say, but they feel they can do so from a distance. Step up! You have until Saturday, July 15 at 11:59 ET to do so.

Remember to send your questions to my email address: digital_fightnews@hotmail.com

  2. fight people and managers wont use their name due to retaliation, such as not being used on a ballroom boxing show, or any other show middendorf may be a matchmaker at.

  3. But what about the fans? They were making comments also.

  4. Just sad Gary. Folks talk smack and then never send one question.

  5. Chris is a great guy and looks like Ted Danson to me. He always has a good word for folks and suprised at all this hostile stuff.

  6. Managers/trainers who ever use the phrase "he got my fighter knocked off" instantly lose creditiblity. Chris is in the business of making competitive fights, and thats what he does best. All the idiots -- who are nowhere to be found now -- are just mad because they're fighters aren't good enough to make it out of the club show circuit, so they blame Chris for making the fight. Chris has done nothing but provide stability to the boxing community in Maryland and D.C. and should be commmended for it.

  9. Chris, I beg you mam, please start being honest and teating people fair. You have only two serious friends that I know of. You are going to lose them too if you do not clean your act up. Is it so hard for you just to tell these boxers the truth?

  10. Lou,

Why don't you ask Chris a legitimate question that can be answered during my interview?

  11. Chris, Why did you call Steve Glasco in Philly requesting a boxer that would be able to give Sugar Poo his first lost? Why did you offer stever an extra $350.00 if he found someone that would give Sugar Poo his first lost? What did Poo do that would cause you to do underhanded dealings like that? More Question: Why do you take upon yourself to white-out certain things in contracts without telling the boxer? On many occassions the boxers is surprised and his contract looks different than your white out copy. Why dont you call Josh Hall and learn from him? I think he would be willing to show you how to do things correctly.

  12. I had told myself that I would not respond to anymore of the bullshit and lies but Mr. Buttlers stupidity deserves a response. First and foremost, I have never heard of Steve Glasco. There is no agent or matchmaker or manager that I deal with by that name. So he may be a figment of your imagination.
Second, as Sugar Poo said to me when we discussed the the sort of crap that you have written on the blog, his question was how could I have screwed him if I had made all but one of his fights and he was undefeated. Furthermore, why would I have any interest in getting him beat. He is an exciting fighter he has skills and balls, but needs better training habits. Buchanan is taking part in the Super Middleweight Tournament that I have created for Gary Shaw on Showtime the end of this month. I hope that everyone will tune in on July 28th at 11pm and watch Buchanan against Lucas Arias Green (10-0) from Costa Rica. What is exciting about this tournament and the opportunity that being in it presents is that if you win in July you fight again on Showtime on October 6 and the finals are also on Showtime on January 5th. So it is a unique opportunity for the best fighters to fight three times on national television in less than six months. So Lou,if you think that I have screwed Buchanan or taken advantage of him in some way, I bet there are some other fighters out there that would like the same treatment. Oh, did I forget to mention, the pay is quite good!
So watch the show. Send Gary some real questions, and you will get the real answers.

And in response to the statement that anonymous made about how people wont ask questions for fear of my retaliating - you have it all wrong. The great thing about the boxing business is that every week the sand shifts under your feet as people win and lose and rankings change. So you can have an enemy one week, who is your best friend the next. My job is to find the best fighters and to make the best matchups that I can for any of the promoters with whom I work. So what I do for Ballroom or Keystone or Ten Kount or Marty Wynn is the same that I do for Gary Shaw. or any of the other promoters with whom I work across the country.

  14. Hey Cris, you do know Steve glasco. I was the one who intruduced you to him at UpperMarlboro show. Anyway, you might have forgot, afterall as far as I know you only dealt with him twice. Im not sure about the Suger Poo stuff, but I do know that you know him. He is the one hanging out with Demitrous. Anyway, keep your head up high. There is no way to make everyone happy...

  18. speaking of local talent and shows,if sugar poo is in your tournament, why not paschal,he is 9-0, poos opponent has only one more fight then paschal? also out of curiosity, how is a matchmaker paid is it a straight fee, is it a % of the purses. also what is C.M. backround in boxing prior to being a matchmaker.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The reason why Mike Paschal is not in the tournament is because Chris knows better to screw Paschal. In fact, 2002 Pashcal slapped Chris for saying something to his girl at Michaels 8th Ave. Chris told Scott and Scott refused to have amature shows there any longer. I think was a big mistake cuz those show were more exciting. Also Paschal has already beat Poo 4 times in the amatures.

  20. When was the last time Scott HAD an amateur show at Michael's?

I think the answer to that would be...NEVER!

    ReplyDelete
  21. To express my opinion on this part of this situation. Mike Paschall, quite frankly, is not ready yet for the type of shot that Buchanan is getting.

Number one, Paschall's hand injury set him back about six months.

Two: He has not fought the type of competition Buchanan has fought in his career. Not that Poo has faced fantastic competition, but he has fought better people than Paschall has at this stage.

Three: Paschall, as talented as he is, makes too many mistakes in the ring. His last outing maybe can be attributed to ring rust, but he was not on his game last time out. Buchanan makes very few mistakes in the ring. He is better suited for this tournament at this stage. It doesn't have anything to do with Middendorf having issues with anyone.

  22. Lets get something straight right now! It was the amature boxers and coaches from DC who started all the trouble at Michael's 8th. Ave.
How dare you blame it on the boxers from Baltimore. You know damn well, Baltimore behaves much better than they do. I know of one coach down there who is always fighting at show himself. Again, please do blame it on the boxers from Baltimore!!!

  23. Thanks for the correction on the amateur shows. I was truly unaware.

I don't think Brad was blaming anyone for the trouble. He was just saying what happened.

Regardless of who started it, everyone gets hurt by it because it's another opportunity lost that we have to watch upcoming talent.

  24. After reading comments and qoustions by others, a few have not been answered by chris, some have been answered by gary but not chris. 1.local fighters paschal ricasa white ect ect not appearing on the ballroom shows.2. what is Middendorfs boxing backround prior to being a matchmaker for wagner. and what about the pay for matchmaker %, straight fee, is there a booking agent fee also? also gary to add to what Brad said, dANNY KISNER DID MANY AMATEUR
SHOWS AT M8ave. Maybe you should keep up more on these young boxers and even publish some fight cards and results of these local amateur shows Balt and DC thanks Vince VZ

  25. Vince,

If I get the results from an amateur show, I will post them. A lot of amateur promoters don't tend to give me accurate results.

This blog was primarily designed to talk about the PROFESSIONAL boxing scene in the city.

As I've said in the past, I will definitely do more advertising of amateur shows, but due to time and family considerations, I can't make every amateur show.

As far as the questions for Chris, they will be forwarded to them so he can answer them.
