Breaking News: IBO Sanctions Super Middleweight Tournament!

I have just received word that there will be more at stake for Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan and the other seven participants in the ShoBox Super Middleweight Tournament.

The International Boxing Organization (IBO) will be the sanctioning body for the tournament and all of the bouts will be elimination contests that will lead to the finals on January 5.

The winner of the tournament will be recognized as the IBO Super Middleweight champion of the world.

  4. Yes. Forget about the "IBO" (International Body Odor) and all of their illegitimate cousins, trinkets, and 'offspring' which harm the sport - but this is a good solid tourney! And I love the idea of tourneys. Good for the fighters - and the fans!

  5. Dallas "Deaf Pride" Vargas is the older brother of the captain of the 2004 US Olympic team, Devin Vargas.

Jean Paul Mendy was a member of the 1996 French Olympic team.

Sakio Bika fought WBC Super Middleweight champ Markus Beyer to a technical decision draw this past May. Beyer couldn't continue after an unintentional head butt. His only loss was to Sam Soliman in 2002.

Esteban Camou's only loss was to former world champ Yory Boy Campas.

Herrera stopped former world champion Jorge Castro in his last bout.

No question: This tourney is solid!

I am glad that is a very solid tournment. I think alot of the boxing fans are tired of all the mismatches.

  7. Yo, it should be noted that Dallas Vargas stopped Carlos Jones earlier this year. Carlos is very tight with Poo and the rest of us up at Sugar Ray's. Look for Poo to try for some get back if they meet in the tournament. BTW, I trained with Arias-Green down in Costa Rica. He's strong and hits pretty hard I guess but he's not in Poo's league. I'm not sure what the line is, but Poo will probably stop him late. Hope everyone can make it to Springfield on August 19th. Hey Gary, Snow is fighting this Saturday in Louisville.
    Knock him out Poo!!!
