Fightnews.com is reporting that IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken's title defense against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is now officially set.
The Forestville, MD native's first title defense will be on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be shown on Showtime Championship Boxing. The bout will be the televised co-feature to the WBC heavyweight elimination bout between James Toney and Samuel Peter.
Aiken will come into the bout with a record of 16-4, 12 KO's while Guerrero is 18-1-1, 11 KO's.
Anyone know of any places (sports bars, for example) in DC or Northern VA that show boxing events? Also, this is probably a dumb question, but what exactly are elimination bouts?
ReplyDeleteMouse, knock his ass out!!! ACW, call Terrence again if you need tickets or a ride to either August 19th or Oct. 7th.

Elimination bouts are "supposed" to decide who are the top contenders in certain weight classes.
ReplyDeleteWhat they REALLY are: cheap ways for the governing bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO) to make money!
Thanks Digital.
ReplyDeleteMike-will do (I'm gonna try to go to both).
Simple question: why are there FOUR governing bodies for one sport?? That IMO is one of the bigger problems with boxing-do any other sports do that?
ReplyDeleteMouse, when that time comes during the fight to put him out,...DO SO!
