Three Beltway Boxers had three widely-different results on a card at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL on Saturday, February 27th.

Columbia, MD super middleweight Ashton "The Goon" Sykes was stopped in the fifth round by undefeated Alexis Espino of Las Vegas, NV. Sykes fought gamely in the bout but in the fifth, Espino landed a strong left hand that stunned Sykes.  Espino turned on the power, forcing referee Chris Yong to stop the contest at 2:03.  The loss breaks a three-bout winning streak for Sykes, whose record falls to 5-4, one KO.  Espino remains undefeated at 7-0, five KO's.

Alexandria, VA lightweight Keyshawn Davis made a successful pro debut by scoring a second-round knockout over Lester Brown of Nassau, Bahamas.  Davis established his jab early and often on Brown before knocking him down with a right hook with a minute to go in the second round.  Davis kept on the pressure before referee Telis Assimenios stopped the bout at 2:50 of the round.  Brown's record drops to 4-4-3, one KO.

Newport News, VA heavyweight Jerry "Slugger" Forrest came back from suffering three knockdowns in the first three rounds to earn a 10-round majority draw against Zhilei "Big Bang" Zhang of Bloomfield, NJ by way of Zhoukou, China.  Zhang dropped Forrest late in the first round with a counter left hook to the body.  In the second round, Zhang sent Forrest to the canvas with a sweeping right hook.  Forrest would fall again in the third because of a short Zhang right hand.

However, Forrest would come back and dominate the second half of the bout as Zhang started to tire.  In the ninth round, Zhang would lose a point for holding as Forrest would land quality shots to the head and the body.  Forrest finished the bout with a strong 10th round.  Forrest would win one scorecard, 95-93 but the other two judges scored the contest even at 93-93.  Forrest's record is now 26-4-1, 20 KO's while Zhang remains undefeated 22-0-1, 17 KO's.
