Results From Baltimore!

Here are the results of the Shawstyle Promotions/Shabazz Brothers card held Saturday in front of a packed house at the Coppermine Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, MD:

Middleweight Shariff "C3" Rahman of Las Vegas, NV by way of Baltimore made a successful pro debut scoring a first-round TKO over Alex Ashbury of Kannapolis, NC.  Rahman knocked down Ashbury three times to earn his victory. Ashbury is 0-4.

Rahman's father, former undisputed world heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman was on hand, not only to support his son but he also participated in four-round exhibition contest against Robert Dunton of Hopkins, SC.  Another former world champ, Zab "Super" Judah, worked Shariff Rahman's corner.

In the co-feature, Baltimore cruiserweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves was dominant in a first-round knockout of Anthony "The Bull" Caputo Smith of Kennett Square, PA.  At the halfway mark of the opening round, Reeves landed a solid right hand to the awkward Smith and dropped him to the canvas.  Smith beat the count but was quickly knocked back to the canvas by another Reeves right hand forcing referee Brent Bovell to call the fight off at 1:40.  Reeves is now 11-2-2, five KO's while Smith is 15-7, 10 KO's.

Debuting Baltimore super middleweight Stephon "The Surgeon" Morris used a brutal counter right hand to knock out Cassanova Brooks of Atlanta, GA in the second round.  After a relatively even first round, Morris caught Brooks with the counter hand that made Brooks crumple to the canvas.  Referee David Braslow counted to 10 and the contest was stopped at 28 seconds.  Brooks is 0-2.

Baltimore welterweight Malik "The Iceman" Hawkins went the distance for the first time in his young pro career, winning a four-round unanimous decision over Jose Valderrama of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.  Hawkins landed quick and solid shots against the game Valderrama who took Hawkins's best shots throughout.  Hawkins, who had never been past the first round in a contest, won this bout by scores of 39-37 (twice) and 40-36.  Hawkins is now 5-0, four KO's while Jose Valderrama is 4-12, three KO's.

Super middleweight Devin Butcher of Baltimore scored a fourth-round TKO of Darryl Watkins of Temple Hills, MD in a very competitive bout.  Butcher had a tough time with Watkins's side-to-side movement in the early part of the contest but managed to cut Watkins off and land solid right hands to drop Watkins twice in the fourth-round before the bout was stopped at 2:49.  Butcher remains undefeated at 5-0, three KO's. Watkins is now 0-2.

Joppa, MD middleweight Jerome Featherstone won a four-round unanimous decision over the debuting Jessie Singletary of Washington, DC.  Featherstone put on a workmanlike performance in defeating the somewhat nervous Singletary.  Featherstone won by shutout (40-36) on all three judge's cards.  Featherstone is now 2-0.

In the opening contest, Cody "The Crippler" Crowley of Douro, Ontario, Canada scored a first-round TKO over Kevin "Tiger" Cooper of Aiken, SC.  Crowley, who now competes out of Las Vegas, scored three knockdowns to get the stoppage at 2:36.  Crowley raises his record to 6-0, four KO's while Cooper falls to 1-5, one KO.

This card was simply amazing. The boxers truly came out to give us a show. The only upset was that Tyrieshia Lady Tiger Douglas' opponent was not there. Can't wait for the next bout in the DMV
