Wilson Suffers Second Round Stoppage in Winchester; July Wins By TKO!

BATB is getting results from the United Boxers card at the Winchester Sportsplex in Winchester, VA and we have somewhat of a surprise.  Fairfax, VA junior welterweight Todd "White Lightning" Wilson was stopped in the second round by veteran Jose Angel "Lucky" Roman of St. Augustine, FL.

Wilson was dropped twice in the second before the bout was stopped.  The loss is Wilson's first in his pro career and he is now 14-1, four KO's.  Roman stopped an eight-bout losing streak with the victory and he is now 12-33-5, six KO's.

In the co-feature, Suitland, MD cruiserweight Venroy "Hardwork" July scored a second-round knockout over former US Olympian Dante Craig of Cincinnati, OH. July dropped Craig with a left hook that stopped the contest and raised his record to 13-0-6, six KO's.  Craig falls to 20-14-1, 15 KO's.

In other bouts on the card:

Springfield, VA junior welterweight Edgar "The Tiger" Torres won a four-round majority decision over the debuting Tommy Ayres, Jr. the son of the former world title contender of the 80's.  Torres is 3-0-1, two KO's.

Baltimore, MD lightweight Raymondo Elliott scored his third consecutive knockout win with a second-round TKO over Anthony Fraguada of Newark, NJ.  Elliott knocked down Fraguada five times during the contest.  Elliott is now 3-1, three KO's while Fraguada is now 1-8, one KO and has been knocked out in every loss he's had.

Baltimore super middleweight Maxell "The General" Taylor won a six-round unanimous decision over Nathan Bedwell of Jackson, TN.  Taylor is now 18-4-1, eight KO's while Bedwell is now 5-11, four KO's.

Another super middleweight from Baltimore -- Lee Snow -- evened his record with a fourth-round TKO over Anthony Walls of Akron, OH.  Snow is now 3-3, two KO's while Walls is 0-2.

Also on the card, undefeated Lynn, MA super middleweight prospect Ronald "Akeem" Ellis stopped veteran Damon Antoine of Akron, OH in the first round.  Ellis is now 6-0, five KO's while Antoine is 11-44-2, five KO's.

We are also trying to get results from the RBA Promotions card in Norfolk, VA.  We hope to have those for you later today.

Ronald Ellis was a light heavy and Dwarfed Damon Antoine.
This fight should have never been able to take place.
Antoine could have held his own with the weight diffrence against an average fighter that weight and size but not somebody with the talent of Ellis.

No surprise that Wilson got stopped by Roman. I've been saying for years that he's a bum, and he was finally exposed by an under .500 fighter that has fought alot tougher competition. He was only exposed because by looking at Roman's record, he doesn't look like anything, and really he isn't, but he was enough to stop Wilson, who has been given gifts throughout his whole career.

Todd is a good guy and a good fighter regardless of how some of u feel. Did he overlook his opponent?? I think so. Was he better than his opponent?? Definitely. But he got caught, he's gonna come back from this with a lesson learned im sure. We'll have to wait and see how he presents himself in the ring next time. U talking shit about someone who suffered a hard defeat in front of family and close friends who traveled far to support like that isn't enough for someone to realize self mistakes. Todd, u got my support and im sure you'll bounce back with some knowledge. But analyze your mistakes in the ring and in the gym first, then correct them

How about Wilsons fans?
They showed alot of class.
Yeah right!
A couple of them tried to start a fight with me.
If I was one who like to take advantage of somebody I would have a few KO's on my record.
They need to understand that losing and the taunting you get from the other side comes with the territory.
My advice is if you can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen.
It takes alot of diffrent elements to be special in this sport(especially in the pros)and just because you can sell a few tickets
doesn't make you a better fighter.
Todd Wilson has some talent and seems to be a nice person but some of his fans are a bunch of drunk barflys who may wind up with an attitude adjustment before to long.

you will know when it happens.

Don't give a shit how much U think he overlooked his opponet
He has no firepower. PERIOD/THE END OF/NOTTA/NONE/.
After the first round his opponet
saw he couldn't possibly hurt him
and started having a field day.
So whoever is writing about a lesson learned.
Take those bagpipes and stick them up your ass and then play a tune with them then.
Have a nice day

Andrew has taken a vacation from the sport for a while and it gives me a much needed rest as well.
I think everyone understands our position on a fight with Wilson.
Think everyone should let Wilson catch his breath. He just had a bad night recently.
Peace,Love and Soul my Children.

I know ,thank you for reminding me.I forget sometimes.
And is that a loser with a capital L or have I made it to that level yet.
Do you know how much I really don't care about what you think of me?

To the person asking how many people were at the Winchester show.
There were about 100 paying customers. An improvment from the last show Chris had there.
